Alanria

Laterre

Laterre is the main continent on Alanria. This large body of land includes a large range of terrain. The Fria Mountain Range separates the northern heights from the rest of the continent. It is about as cold up there as it gets in Alaska, but a little larger than Alaska.

South of the northern heights and to the east is where the Great Rift is found, it stretches for several hundred medidas (1 medida=1 1/2 mile)it ends at Mt Muerto, the largest mountain in Alanria. The large mountain is black and many believe this to be the wyrm's original home. On both sides of the Great Rift stand the Berg Mountains. In the Northern Berg Mountains are the diamond mines, and in the Southern Berg Mountains is the most highly populated dragon city, Arachana. The dragons of Arachana used to periodically rob the northern mines, but this has evolved to more of a trade agreement.

The tropical Southeast is riddled with peninsulas. There are many small lakes there. Krinog, one of the greatest harbor cities, is located in the Southeast. Some claim to have seen a spring of rejuvenating and healing waters in this area. The spring is not considered a myth, but a well kept secret of the mages and is suspected to have a forgetting spell placed around it so no one will remember where it was if they did find it. The mages neither admit to, nor do they deny hiding this mystery, of course the mages are not known as people to disclose information to the rest of the world.

South central Laterre is marshland, populated by enormous bog snakes and different species of geese. The marsh is said to be a result of a lake being magically moved to the plains. To the west the marsh gets dryer and hotter, this gives way to the Hiroshima Desert.

There is not much to be said about the desert, half of it is sandy, but the area closer to the woodlands (further north) is more dirt, less sand, and more life. The sandy desert would be barren but for a river which runs through the center and begins in the north, near the cliffs.

If one would walk around the cliffs long enough he would see the plains, the plains is the center of Laterre, and in the plains live one of the most amazing of all the races, the Shada. The largest pack in the plains is the Brandi pack.

To the east, surrounding the castle on all sides except the west and south, where the cliffs are, is the Karodesh wood. These woods are said to harbor some of the unicorns that were not killed in the plague, a healing lake is also said to be found here, but it is considered like the spring of the southeast.

Alanria Palace is found near the Griffin Cliffs, surrounded by the city of Reina. The city is densely populated, mostly with bonded warriors. The streets of the city are wide enough for a dragon to walk down, but if one dragon is walking in one direction and another is coming toward him, one or the other (usually the one in less of a rush) must fly up and over. The streets are arranged in a spider web like pattern, with the center being the palace. The residences nearest the palace are civilian, the residences further outward are the warriors. This is so that if there is an attack on the palace the invaders will first have to cope with the army before they come in contact with any innocents, and the civilians all have either flight spells or flying mounts to help if there is ever a need for evacuation.

Zubanay

Zubanay is slightly smaller than Laterre. It is located to the east of Laterre, with a varried climate. To the North is the White Forest, it is dense and very easy to get lost in. Most everyone who lives there makes their homes in the trees.The Eastern coast is an extremely mountainous region. Most of the creatures that live there are either dragons or, further north, Mammoths. The mountains have several maze-like cave systems, which have not been totally explored. The most commonly used caves have spell-lights magicked in them.

The southern region is swampland, which is much the same as the swamps in Laterre, except these swamps are home to the medicinal Dragon Hop frog. using a liquid, secreted in the skin of the frog's leg, an ointment can be made which quicken the healing of extreme burns. no one knows why, but the ointment is most effective on dragon burns.

All of central and west Zubanay is plains. These plains are home to a myriad of creatures, most you would expect to see in the African plains, as well as Landstriders.

Islands


The islands are not as significant as the continents, so i have decided to tell the name, climate, position, and main city. If there is (MP) written beside any island it is mage protected. An islnd that is (MP) is either clouded with mist or the waters and winds are magiced to make ships and and fliers veer away.
