or you have over 10 tapes of Michelle (I'm almost there!)
4.If you don't mention MK for one day, your friends notice and go
"WOW! You didn't mention her all day!"
5. When YOU'RE getting tired of hearing yourself talk about Michelle everyday!

you cried.
When someone criticizes her or even mentions that she may not be the best,
you take it very, very personally...
When you call yourself viewing a comp without knowing the results beforehand, your palms are sweaty and you have a lump in your throat. The lump stays all through her performance and lodges there for good if she misses an element.
You have quit smoking for 3 months but take a drag off of your mom's cigarette because you are so nervous before MK takes the ice...
It tasted terrible though, thank God.
This about sums up my 99 Worlds experience as a die-hard kwan fan,
but the fact remains...
She is still the best...

1. I check multiple MK fan pages multiple times a day.
2. Everytime someone write something slightly negative about Mk, I get upset.
3. Everytime I hear a piece of music that is beautiful,
I think how nice if MK skates to it.
I try to learn to deeply appreciate every piece of music she skated to.
4. I tried my very best to get hold of all of MK's music.
(Still no luck with Lamente DAiane)
5. Watch one or more of her performances on tape almost daily.
6. I accidentally turned on Donny and Marie one day
and they just happened to interview SOI skaters: Ilia, Katia and you know who.
although I like Ilia, and Katia,
but when D&M announce you know who's name, I turned the tv off.

just in case the boards go down again.

2. you are pissed at (C) B.S. for turning Olympics into T---lympics
3. you buy tons of blank tapes
to record all MK competitions and performances
4. you can't bring yourself to tape over US Pros tape even though you have other copies of MK's Dante's Prayer and Carmen because
you wanna save the intros where they showed everyone dancing to swing
5. you read the boyfriends thread and laugh because it is silly but exciting
6. you think of doing an MK documentary which would show
an in-depth analysis of MK the skater and MK the competitor
plus it would include the best performances of all of MK's programs
bec. she is a legend
and you want the future generations and other people to discover her too

Just wondering...if anyone has the original "you know you're an MK fan..." somewhere, should they repost it for us (even if it was in it's infancy),
so we can see what we've already said? I know I put in 10 and I can probably duplicate it off the top of my head, but would rather put new ones in if the old ones are reposted.
Here are some new ones from me...
you know you're an MK fan when:
1) You start imagining what MK's costumes would look like long and realize they look better than some actresses evening gowns on Oscar night.
2) You sometimes watch MD hockey games just for the express purpose of scannning the crowd (especially ten rows opposite the players bench)
to see if MK attended.
3) You motivate yourself sometimes by saying, "why can't I be more like MK, the athlete I admire most, in terms of discipline, etc..."
4) Your closet has a "black section"
just to remind you of your fave athletes MK and #9 JJJ
5) You hope that MK wins everything in sight next season with authority
and just say "In Your Face" a la Basketball slam dunk over a contender's face!!!
(Okay she's too classy to say something like that,
but I would gladly say it for her to all and sundry)
6) You develop a code for those in the know for Fan Fiction purposes
to continue a thread at the dreaded FSW board while MKF was down.
7) You tell your supervisor that you will be coming in late for work
to do some errands (go to the bank etc.) just to catch MK
at Good Morning America on 03/30, get bummed she wasn't in it
and skip the rest of the day of work to go online...
8) You pray to God to heal MK during World's.
Later ask Him why He allowed it (the loss) to happen. Then trust in Him that there was a reason for this
and it's for MK's good and us too.
9) You're in a conundrum as to why the media suddenly sees the silver medal
in a different light from last year when it's absolutely the same color!!!
10)You think Michell Kar...okay I won't go there,
but it certainly has a nice ring to it. (Fan Fiction-wise)

knowing that you will get very upset if you missed it. (It's true, my husband does these things for me, even setting the VCR.)
2) when you watch the skating event/interviews w/ MK, although you're already recording it.
3) when you watch the recordings over and over again, as I do (I now must have seen Red Violin 200x *exaggeration*, but close!)
4) when you want her to win the gold all the time
5) when you cry when she doesn't get the gold
6) when you cry for joy when she shows her natural grace and sprotmanship when she doesn't get the gold
7) when you cry of shame for yourself, for thinking that silver is not acceptable for MK, and she goes out and shows her strength of character getting it
8)when you check magazines in the store for ANY mention of MK
9) when her program/s music play in your head
like a tape recorder many x during the day
10) when you see her skating to her music in your head many x a day
11)when you have to watch tapes of her programs AT LEAST ONCE every day (it's like medication, you just can't get through the rest of the day without it)
12) when you get "criminal thoughts" about reporters with snide comments about MK
13) like everyone else, you refuse to tape over an event, even if she's skating to the same program
14) when you go forums like this, and answer the threads

i'm also a kwan fan and i think it's hilarious the things i've read
(boyfriend topics, anti-tara comments, etc.)!!!
it's also nice to see that there are so many devoted fans of michelle.
how do you all find the time to keep up with everything?

2. You feel no one deserves to be Michelle's boyfriend.
3. You always worry and are afraid about someone would love Michelle more than you do and takes away Michelle's heart.
4. You could barely watch her skate especially when she is going to do her double axel.
5. You bawl and wail like a baby whole week after watching her lose her Olympic dream.
6. You dream about Michelle where she is got beaten up by Tara Lipinski and you become her hero saving her life and slap Tara so badly.
7. You discover that Michelle has absolutely become the center of your life and feel that you wouldn't live any longer if anything happens to Michelle.

3) You get so nervous you almost can't watch her compete live anymore, and you never remember her program the first time you watch it coz you're so nervous. You're really thankful to that dude who invented the VCR
4) You really really want her to win the 2002 Olympics and get nervous whenever you heard about anyone who might be the next Tara
5) You just have to mention her first name and everyone around you knows who you're talking about
6) You may not like her hair, her costume, an interview that she did, or her new program but you taped everything anyway coz like that Aerosmith song says, you "don't wanna miss a thing"

Ralph Waldo Emerson, when you go to COI -- and it's enough for you when the security guard who took her the flowers tells you that she smiled when she got them.
3. Your autographed picture from Michelle is one of your most precious possessions.
4. Dante's Prayer makes you cry every time no matter how many times you see it.
5. So does East of Eden.
6. So does her Nationals Performance of Lyra Angelica.
7. You posted angry threads on FSW
when Button called her Ariane program "satisfying" at Nationals
and gushed about Naomi Nari Nam, then forgave him when he was so nice and supportive at Worlds.

1. A poor speller & a slow typer as I, willing to try to be part of this friendly forum and feel nice raport with everyone here.
2. Don't know much about axel,flip,loop,lutz,& salchow, but spend a lot of times study these terms and still quite confess.
3. Estactic everytime watch MK skating even thoug, it had been viewed the same programs many times over.
4. Try to initate her infamous spread eagle on the solid ground with my heavy hiking boots... wonder how she is able to do it in the thin ice?!
5. Close my eyes and imagine her skating when I hear a beautiful music everytime.
6. Start to appreciate classical music.
7. Became a research pro that able to use multi search engines in the web to find all the MK sites & more...

There are two threads at FSW currently one is to write one thing good about your least favorite skater. That one is relativley easy.The other is to write a valid criticism about your most fav skater. Oh, that one is so difficult. But I also know to be a Michelle fan means I have to be a skating fan, and I have been wishing for years to see Michelle continue to work on her layback spin. To be a fan also means I hope and know that she will improve, just like she always has been.

Your computer themes,screensavers,icons etc. are all MK.
You can't stand the talk of the new up and comers like NNN.
You dream of being at the SLC Olympics even though you know it will cost a billion dollars to go...but it doesn't matter what you have to sell...you MUST be there to cheer on and (PLEASE GOD) see MK win the GOLD!!!

MaryJo, yes! agree with you! I have been thinking about this problem. I found that I was totally disgusted ablout those young skaters, like naomi and sarah or even elisabeth kwan. I've tried to convince myself that the world has to be refreshed and refreshed. But I just couldn't quit thinking about that what if someday those youngsters just take over Michelle's place and Michellejust gets pissed? I tried to find many many good things about Naomi Nam, I knew she was cute, got a bright happy personality and was nice. But I just couldn't stand her since the first I saw her in last year's christmas special. And also my mind just totally pissed sarah Hughes off when the first time I saw her at the 98' nationals, and did to elisabeth kwon...although I knew that was really stupid...
