EASTENDERS EPISODE GUIDE

EASTENDERS - THE EPISODE GUIDE

Monday 7th December 1998

DCI Mason is doing the rounds in the square. The first person to be interrogated is, of course, Grant, who tells him they were "just bickering" when Tiffany tripped and fell. Bianca has no trouble in telling Mason what she things of Grant; she tells him he'd hit Tiffany last Christmas and that this time Tiffany had found out Grant was having an affair. When Mason questions Peggy she begrudgingly tells him she saw nothing, but that Jamie may have done! Michael has to look after a trainee market inspector, Lisa - he manages to make himself look a fool by saying "you've got to keep your stall holders happy" and promptly upsetting Simon and Bianca. DCI Mason pays another visit to Grant, this time armed with the new information he has. Grant sticks to his story even though Mason says that he could be looking at attempted murder if Tiffany has another story. Grant makes his way to the hospital and catches up with Louise on the way - her anger spills out as she tells him "I hope they lock you up and throw away the key." George tries to talk to Annie about Rosa and their marriage - Annie isn't convinced it's going to happen - he's not in love with Rosa. When George asks Annie to leave the di Marcos alone she tells him that's not possible as she and Gianni are "rather more than friends". George is horrified and begs Annie to stop - she can't have a relationship with Gianni because he may be his son. At the hospital Grant is told by the Neurosurgeon that although Tiffany's operation was successful she may still be brain-damaged - Grant is devastated.

Tuesday 8th December 1998

It's Louise's turn to be questioned by DCI Mason, but to his surprise, Louise doesn't say much against Grant, only that she hasn't known him long. Phil is trying to keep Jamie from the police, thinking he'll get Grant into more trouble. He won't let him go back to the Vic nor will he let him work at the Arches. Jamie is bored but when he unintentionally helps Matthew out on his music stall, Matthew offers him work over Christmas. This means Phil can't stop him being seen in the square. Nicky is very angry with Rosa and they have words at the breakfast table. George finds Annie at the Market Cellar - she hasn't slept all night. She tells George she always knew he didn't love her - "I thought it was because you wanted a son. But it was much worse. You had one but you couldn't have him". George tries to convince her that isn't true but to no avail. Annie packs her bags and goes. Michael still has Lisa, the trainee, with him. Everyone is complaining about some very ropy Christmas trees being sold on the market. Michael is very fed up and goes off for a break leaving Lisa to hold the fort. When he returns and sees the Christmas tree man leaving, he jumps to the wrong conclusion and blames Lisa who tells Michael to "get stuffed!". Phil gets a visit from Mason. He tries to talk to Phil about Grant serving in the Falklands and Phil and Grants fight ending with Phil being hospitalised. Phil won't be goaded. Terry is very despondent. Alex talks to him and he tells him he's angry with himself for hurting Tiffany when she was younger - "I've been a rubbish dad to her an' now I can't even say sorry." Rosa is worried when she finds out that Nicky hasn't been at school today. George goes to look for her. But Terry finds her arguing with a ticket inspector at the underground station. She is in tears so Terry takes her home. Rosa is thrilled so see her and offers Terry a cup of tea in thanks. Meanwhile, George has bumped into Gianni who blames George for upsetting his family and trying to buy his way in. George starts to tell Gianni the two of them are more alike than he thinks - "You're a chip off the old block". Gianni puts 2 and 2 together and goes storming into the house. In front of Terry he pleads with Rosa to tell him George is lying; he's can't be his father! Beppe had told Bianca that Frank may know something about what happened in the Vic the week before and she should try and persuade Ricky to get Frank to talk. But when Bianca finds Ricky in the Vic he says he won't put his dad in such a position. Bianca gets wound up and can't help staring at Phil and Peggy at the bar. When Louise comes in with Courtney, Bianca goes up to the bar and asks Louise what kind of grandmother is she that would give her granddaughter back to Grant. Phil tries to get Ricky to take Bianca home, but she can't be stopped. And when Grant enters she spills the beans about his affair with another woman. Grant and Louise are panic-stricken; Peggy can't believe her ears!

Thursday 10th December 1998

The Vic is deserted - the residents of Albert Square are boycotting the pub. Peggy is getting more and more worried and is not happy with Bianca. When she confronts her in the laundrette Bianca says she feels sorry for Peggy trying to think the best of her son when he's not a decent human being. Jeff gets a nasty surprise when he turns up for work only to be told by Rosa that the restaurant is shut for the time being and she doesn't know when it'll re-open. Mason eventually gets hold of Jamie who says he saw nothing the night Tiffany had the accident. When Jamie tells Phil and Grant he's spoken to the police, Grants gets wound up with him, before Jamie has a chance to tell him he didn't grass on him. Frank tries talking to Grant and asks him, if there's any truth in what Bianca has said, he should tell the police. Grant doesn't listen. Michael turns up late for work to find Lisa has given Matthew Biancas pitch, because Matthew was there first. He can't have a go at her again, but he's not pleased. Beppe lets Rosa into his flat, where Gianni has sat all day, not answering the door. He says all the time he was growing up he wondered why he didn't fit in, now he knows. Rosa tells him Giuseppe never treated him any differently and loved him as much as the other children. But when Gianni tells her Annie and he are lovers, she is appalled. She tells him he can have a blood test to find out who his real father is. Robbie decides to give Bianca a present - a birthing pool. Lenny and he fill it, but Wellard's not happy and pounces on it. The water gushes out and Bianca is more than angry. Beppe and Simon go to visit Tiffany. Simon is told that Tiffany should recover from her chest injuries without too many problems. As Simon is about to go and spread the good news, Grant comes in - Beppe asks him why he's there; does he want to finish what he's started and pull the plug? This is too much for Grant who lunges at Beppe. The two men fall against Tiffany's ventilator and the leads disconnect.

Monday 14th December 1998

The day after Grant and Beppe's fight at Tiffany's bedside and the square is rife with gossip. The atmosphere against Grant worsens. After Bianca's accusations, everyone wants to know who Grant was having an affair with. Peggy advises Grant to keep a low profile for the time being and he must stop losing his temper or others won't believe that he didn't try to kill Tiffany. She asks him if the rumours of his affair are true and he admits to seeing someone before Tiff and him got back together. Meanwhile, Tiffany's allies have formed a Council of War against Grant. Bianca, Simon, Beppe, Louise and Terry congregate in Beppe's flat to discuss how they can get one over on Grant. There must be something they can do to protect Tiff whilst she's in hospital, surely the police should provide cover? Beppe tells them that there's not enough evidence to charge Grant and social services are unlikely to take Courtney from him so they need to find other forms of attack. Perhaps we should start looking for the woman Grant was having an affair with, suggests Bianca. After all, she was the reason Tiffany was leaving, the catalyst to Tiff ending in hospital. Louise looks very uncomfortable, that's the last thing she needs! Luckily, Beppe points out that this would have little use to them at this stage, but Louise is not off the hook yet! It's only a matter of time until their curiosity turns again to finding out her secret. Inspired by a chance remark by the Square's favourite gossips, Dot and Lilly, Terry has an idea of how to keep Grant away from Tiffany. Later that evening in the Vic, Grant is served with a non-molestation order - A legal document which prevents him from coming within 200 metres of Tiffany. Bruno tells Rosa that he and Luisa are leaving for Italy tomorrow. Luisa has not been well and they hope that a holiday will do her good. Arrivederci. Beppe tells his mum that he's okay about her and George having had a relationship. Rosa wishes that Gianni could be so forgiving and tells Beppe that Gianni has been seeing Annie. The implications are not lost on Beppe. In the café, the same thoughts are going through Gianni's head. What if the blood tests show that he is indeed George's son. He will no longer be the same as the rest of the family, having a different dad, and he can't carry on in a relationship with someone he has come to care for deeply. The only one who might understand what Gianni is going through is Annie but she gives him the brush off. She is obviously distressed about the whole thing, not least because it would seem that George has now got the precious son he always wanted and which she always tried to be for him. She's made arrangements to sell the Market Cellar and move on. There's nothing to keep her in Walford. Is she acting too hastily? Matthew finds a tin of spraypaint in Jamie's bag. So he's the one who's been painting graffiti on the square - he compliments Jamie on his talent. Matthew and Huw arrange with Annie for a club night to be held in the Market Cellar. Lenny is upset when he discovers that he has been kept out of their plans. There is a cool atmosphere between Conor and Ruth in the Vic. Upset, Ruth leaves. Conor follows and tells her that he's not been meaning to avoid her, he cares for her and wants to spend the night with her (the smooth talking devil). They kiss passionately. Aah. Bianca tells Ricky about her plans to get off the stall and open a shop. She's been to the bank manager, discussed rates, electricity and what not. All she needs now is a deposit to secure it for which she wants to use their savings. Ricky, upset at not being consulted sooner, tells her that the money is for their baby, not for her business. He feels as if she's making all the decisions and his opinion doesn't count, even though she counters that this will be a family business for the family's future. Matthew lies to Josie, telling her that Jamie and him are 18 years old. She serves them beer. Later, the Vic falls silent as Grant comes down to help out behind the bar. When he sees the pair, he throws them out for underage drinking. Jamie doesn't appreciate being manhandled by Grant and answers back to him. Matthew can't believe Jamie's nerve by standing up to Grant. Jamie admits that he has something on Grant and Grant knows it. Will Jamie heed Phil's advice not to 'grass' on family. After all, they are Mitchells.

Tuesday 15th December 1998

Marcus Christie, Grant's solicitor, turns up on the square and advises Grant that it is not worth contesting the non-molestation order. Ricky tells Frank that he'd do anything to get Bianca back. Frank advises him that he needs to find a way to make Bianca feel secure and if getting this shop will do that for her then perhaps Ricky should concentrate on getting it for her. How will Ricky get the money? Today is the 1st anniversary of baby Natasha's death and Bianca and Ricky visit her grave. Ricky tells her that he wants them to get back together, to be a family. Bianca tells him that she wants the shop so she can give a good future to the baby. Dot lends some money to Lilly to tide her over until her insurance comes through and suggests that Lilly apply for the position in the laundrette. Believing the job is beneath her, Lilly tells Dot that she's not going to wash anyone else's smalls for any amount of money. Thinking that Lilly doesn't want the position Dot accepts it. Unaware of this, Lilly applies for the position only to be told that Dot has the job. Lilly and Dot fall out. Peggy is cracking up under the pressure. Phil reassures her that Grant will be proved innocent when Tiff comes around. "Will he?" Peggy doesn't seem so sure. Meanwhile, in the café, Beppe questions Jamie about what he knows about the night of Tiffany's fall. Referring to his own bruises, Beppe tells him that Grant is a bully but he can give Jamie protection if he gives a statement. Phil enters the café and tells Beppe to "back off" and leave Jamie alone. "Think about it" says Beppe, giving Jamie food for thought. Later, Jamie hears accounts from Bianca and Simon about Grant's violent ways and asks Phil about them "Everyone's got something to say about him and none of it's good". Simon pops into the Vic to see Grant about taking Courtney to the hospital to see Tiffany. He tells Simon that Courtney isn't going anywhere without him. When Simon leaves Grant isn't far behind him and the two end up having a fight. Simon is obviously outclassed by Grant and it takes Phil's intervention to stop Grant from knocking his block off. Jamie, who has witnessed this, runs off with Phil chasing after him. Jamie needs no more proof of Grant's bully boy ways and goes to Beppe's and tells him that he wants to make a statement. He didn't see anything but he heard what was said just before Tiffany fell. "She said that if he wanted to stop her leaving he'd have to kill her first". Beppe looks smug, the case against Grant is getting stronger. After sleeping with each other last night, Conor unromantically tells Ruth that she had better get a morning after pill in case she becomes pregnant. We assume that they didn't use any protection (rather silly in the circumstances). Ruth, quite rightly, is annoyed at Conor focusing on the need for the pill rather than on whispering sweet nothings. Isn't that just typical?! Michael continues to give Lisa a tough time whilst they work together on the market. Lisa mouths off to Matthew about what a dinosaur Michael is only to discover that he is his father. Oops. Matthew reassures her, he'll not say anything to his dad, let this just be their secret. Later that evening Susan meets Lisa in the Vic and invites her out to dinner, Lisa warily accepts. Overhearing Ricky and Teresa discussing money problems, Barry tells them that he might be able to offer them some seasonal work to get some extra cash. Ricky, just off the community register, is suspicious that it's something dodgy but Teresa manages to persuade him to at least have Barry find out more details. With their track record, you just know it's all going to end in tears. Huw has brought out the old pirate radio equipment and has set it up in the living room to promote the club night on the airwaves. He blows the amp meaning that he will have to borrow one from the Market Cellar.

Thursday 17th December 1998

Beppe tells Jamie that although his statement is not enough evidence to charge Grant, it will give the police a much stronger line of enquiry. In the meantime, nobody need know that Jamie has made a statement. "And what if Grant and Phil do find out?" "Trust me Jamie, they won't". However, little do they know that Dot has spotted Jamie getting out of the police car. Dot takes this as a sign that Jamie has been up to no good and takes pleasure in discussing this later with Peggy. Grant apologises to Phil for blowing up at Simon last night. "Stop thinking with your fists". Phil starts to doubt Grant's innocence; did he try to persuade Tiffany to stay with his fists? Grant asks, "do you think we can trust Jamie?" "Yeah" assures Phil. Little do they know! Later that night, Peggy asks Grant what Jamie was doing getting out of a police car with Beppe. "Make him see sense Grant, before he does something stupid". Grant will make him see sense all right! Grant goes round to Phil and Jamie's. Jamie is in on his own and Grant shouts at him through the door. On his way back from the Arches, Phil sees Grant and asks him what he's doing. Grant tells Phil that Jamie has grassed on him, but instead of support Phil sticks up for Jamie. "You think I did it" says Grant. "I threw my wife down the stairs and I nearly killed her. Well admit it, that's what you really think innit?" "I'm not going to answer that." "You just did!" At the hospital, the neurosurgeon tells Louise and Simon that Tiffany has improved a great deal. She will soon be taken off the ventilator and sedatives. However, he warns them "until Tiffany is fully conscious we won't be able to gauge the full extent of her injuries". It is possible that she has suffered brain damage. Conor tells Ruth that surely she should have taken the pill by now, it's been 2 days. She tells him that in order for her to get the prescription she'd have to tell the doctor that what she did was a mistake. "It was" he says. "Well, maybe the whole thing was a mistake" retorts Ruth. So Conor tells her that it's over. Upset, she rips up the prescription for the pill. That's what started this all off in the first place. Melanie's mum has decided to spend Xmas in St Lucia with her new man so as she doesn't want to spend the day with Alex and her dad, Melanie accepts Mary's invitation to spend it with the Fowlers. How will Pauline take this news? Ricky and Teresa meet Barry D, Barry's friend, who tells them about the casual work that he has lined up. The work is transporting stolen Xmas trees and will pay £1,000 for 3 night's work. Ricky is painfully aware that with his previous form, he could get locked up for this if he's caught. Barry D assures him that there's no risk involved. Ricky and Teresa agree to do it. Will Ricky never learn? Guilty about his betrayal to Lenny over the club night at the Market Cellar Huw catches Lenny with his head in the oven and thinks he's trying to "top himself". Lenny is actually cleaning the thing and anyway, it's electric! Huw apologises to Lenny for the way he's been treating him and Lenny gives him the keys to the Market Cellar so that he can borrow the amp for the pirate radio station. It's all systems go for the club and Huw and Lenny are mates again.

Monday 21st December 1998

Jamie tells Phil that he's leaving the square. He's scared about what Grant will do to him now that he knows he went to the police. Beppe made him make the statement and now he wants to retract it. "I'm not a grass Phil". Phil tries to sort things out with Grant and Jamie but Grant's having nothing to do with it. Frank watches on and wonders what the problem is. Ian's tacky new sign for Beale's Market gets mixed reaction in the square. Dot thinks it is blasphemous; most of the others just think it is very poor taste. The faulty lights cause a headache for Melanie. Teresa tells Ricky that Barry D can't get them a van so they need to find one somewhere else for the Christmas tree run tonight. Ricky 'borrows' a van from the car lot without telling anyone, so Frank thinks that it has been stolen and reports it to the police. At the warehouse, Ricky and Teresa are loading the borrowed van up with trees when they are disturbed by a security guard. With Ricky's criminal record, he's looking at a custodial sentence. Teresa's not keen on being arrested either. They look for a place to hide only to find themselves up a dead end with the security guard right behind them. How are they going to get out of this one? Bianca is upset with Ricky, thinking that she's lost the shop. She still doesn't know about Ricky's plans to make money for the shop deposit with the illegal Christmas tree runs with Teresa. Peggy is starting to doubt Grant's innocence. Frank tells her that when Tiffany wakes up she will tell the police that Grant didn't do it. However, Peggy reminds Frank that "there's a possibility she might have brain damage and not remember anything again". If that is the case, will Grant ever get off with the charges of attempted murder? In the Vic Dot gets tipsy drowning her sorrows after Lilly 'spurned her friendship'. Tiffany is out of intensive care and breathing for herself. Bianca, Simon and Terry are at her bedside when she wakes up and are relieved that she seems okay. Meanwhile, Louise has avoided going in to see Tiffany, saying that she needs some fresh air. She's afraid of what Tiffany might say. What Tiffany does say is that she wants to see Grant, where is he? They are mystified - Why should she want to see him? Did he push her down the stairs or not? Does Tiff have amnesia? The results of the blood test come through for Gianni and George. Rosa assures Gianni that no matter what the results, she loves him. However, the results show that George is not Gianni's father. Lisa, Michael and Susan go out for a meal at Guiseppe's. Susan and Lisa get on well together and Michael makes an effort to be friendly. Caught in a dead end, with the security guard approaching, Teresa kisses Ricky to make it look as though they are nothing more than a couple out for a romantic night. The security guard chases them off the property, but at least they get away with it. Ricky later drops Teresa off in the square and she jokes about getting a goodnight kiss. He is not amused. By the time the police turn up to investigate the stolen van, which Frank reported, Ricky has returned it. Frank is left looking stupid but determined to find out what happened to it. The next day, Teresa flirts with Ricky, telling him that she enjoyed their kiss and she thinks they work well together. Any chances of them doing another job together? Ricky is not keen - he only wanted the money for the deposit for Bianca's shop; it was a one off. Barry tries to sell some of the stolen Xmas trees outside the video shop but Lisa tells him to get rid of them; he doesn't have a licence to sell in the street. In the end, Barry literally has to give them away. Ricky gives Bianca the keys to the shop after paying the deposit. She is delighted but believes the money has come from their savings. What will she do if she finds out he got the money through illegal means? Tiffany seems not to remember the night she fell down the stairs and Bianca is concerned that Grant will 'get away with it'. The nurse tells them that it is common for head injury patients to suffer amnesia and she may never regain her memory of the incident. However, the signs are looking good for Tiff making a full recovery. Bianca tells Tiffany that there is a court order preventing Grant from being able to visit her as the police think that he was the one who put her in hospital. If he did, then she has to tell them, as Grant mustn't get away with it again. Tiffany asks Bianca to get Peggy to bring Courtney in to see her. That may be awkward says Bianca, as she had a go at Grant in the Vic for having an affair and Peggy and her have fallen out over it. You do remember that Grant was having an affair? "I'm not sure". Is Tiff covering for Grant, or has she really forgotten about Grant and Louise's affair? Annie tells Rosa that George has left for New Zealand. Just what she expected of him, Rosa replies. As soon as he learns that Gianni is not his son, the marriage is off. That "stinky low-life rat". Teresa turns up late at Guiseppe's. Rosa was worried about her; she was supposed to call if she was going to be late. Teresa is tired of being treated like a child and gets lippy with her mum. Will she start having to call Annie her sister now that George is part of the family. "For your information Gianni is 100% your father's son" replies Rosa. Annie is not Gianni's half sister. She also tells Teresa that the wedding is off - George has dumped her and left for New Zealand. Far from being sympathetic Teresa tells Rosa that it serves her right. As far as she knows her father may still be alive "How many others have you had besides George". Outraged at this slight to her Rosa hits Teresa but immediately regrets it. Teresa runs off. Gianni visits Rosa - he's heard that George has dumped her. Where does that leave the family? George owns the restaurant and the house. They'll all be out on the street now that George has left and it will be her fault. Rosa is not having a good day with her children! Dot has a hangover but thinks it to be the flu. After all, she is not one to drink to excess! Behind her back, Mary shares a joke with Lilly about Dot's condition and Lilly later gets Dot a "hair of the dog" in the Vic. Ian and Melanie are getting along well over a drink in the Vic. Could romance be on the cards? Grant goes to visit Tiffany in hospital but, whilst there, is prevented from doing so by Simon. Simon threatens Grant with losing custody of Courtney if he breaks the court order. For once it looks as though Simon has the upper hand and Grant leaves without seeing Tiffany. DCI Mason questions Tiffany about her fall. Tiffany tells him that she can't remember anything. Like the others, he is not convinced. Louise visits Grant. She is worried about what she can say to Tiffany - what will they do if she gets her memory back? Simon asks Tiffany who Grant was having an affair with. "It was someone we both know" "Who was it Tiffany?" Will Tiffany be able to tell Simon that it was their mother?

Tuesday 22nd December 1998

Simon tells Louise that Tiffany is getting her memory back. She knows whom Grant was having an affair with but she wouldn't say. "She might tell you" says Simon. How little does he know! Peggy warns Bianca not to put words into Tiffany's mouth. Let Tiffany decide for herself about what happened that evening. Peggy tells Phil that Grant reckons he's in the clear as the police have interviewed Tiffany but haven't been around to see him. Phil tells her it's not as simple as that, perhaps they're just gathering more evidence. What evidence? questions Peggy. Phil tells her about Jamie's statement. Peggy is worried. "Get him to retract it!" Phil tells Jamie that they'll go to the police tomorrow to retract his statement if they don't get hold of Beppe first. Rosa tells Beppe that he shouldn't get personally involved in Tiffany's case, but he admits that's hard to do. Rosa is concerned that she has ruined her family's life - now that George has dumped her they will soon lose the restaurant and their house. Beppe tries to reassure her that this won't be the case. Surely they would have heard from George by now if that were his intention. Phil tells Jamie he and Peggy will be able to persuade Grant to let him go to the Vic for Christmas lunch. Jamie's not so sure and he's right. Grant is none to keen to sit down with someone who grassed him up. "He's going to retract his statement", Phil tells him. It's too late; Grant still won't forgive him. Bianca tells her midwife that she now wants to have the baby in hospital. She has a friend in hospital at the moment and she's seen what good care she's been given. If anything were to go wrong with the birth she reckons it's the best place to be. She also wants a scan. "You realise that it's far too late to do anything about it if there is anything wrong?" questions the midwife. Bianca replies: "Yeah. But this way it won't come as a shock. I'll know what to expect and…I think that'll be better." "Do you think it'll make any difference… to how you feel about it?" "No. I've read all the books. I want this baby whatever". Lenny tells Matthew that Huw has asked Jake to DJ at the club night, as Huw is too cowardly to tell him himself. Matthew is hurt; why didn't he tell him? Jamie tells Huw that he's out of order, "you should be sticking by your mates not doing something like this to them". Grant watches on - perhaps Jamie should practice what he preaches. Bianca returns from hospital with a scan photo of her baby. She bumps into Teresa who tells her about the job she and Ricky did with the stolen Christmas trees. Bianca is not happy. Peggy takes Courtney to see Tiffany. Peggy tells her that Grant asked her to tell Tiff that he was sorry and he wants to put things right. "Peggy, I don't know if he hit me, pushed me or what. All I do know is that he was seeing someone else" "We all make mistakes Tiffany…who was it?..is it someone I know?" to which Tiffany replies "Yeah, you know her alright" Tiff is just about to tell Peggy who Grant was having an affair with when Louise enters the room. Peggy leaves Louise and Tiffany alone together. Seizing the opportunity, Louise asks Tiffany to let her explain. "What do you want to explain? Explain that my mother is a slag bag whore who sleeps with her son-in-law." Tiffany finds it impossible to forgive her mother and demands that she leave her alone - as far as she is concerned she has no mother. Annie receives two letters by courier from George. One addressed to her with a cheque for £10,000 and the other addressed to Rosa. Annie steams open the letter addressed to Rosa. What does it say?

Thursday 24th December 1998

Bianca tells Simon about Ricky stealing the trees for money for the deposit for the shop. Simon doesn't see a problem with this - half the stuff on the market is knocked off. That's not the point retorts Bianca, Ricky lied to me. She gives Ricky back the keys to the shop. Simon tells him that she's angry that Ricky lied to her. Teresa has told her about their scam. Ricky goes off to confront Teresa! Annie gives Rosa George's letter. George has left Rosa the restaurant and house. Jamie tells Beppe that he plans to retract his statement. Beppe threatened him and if Beppe doesn't find a way of getting rid of the statement he'll make an official complaint against him. "I can be quite a good liar when I get going. You might find yourself in a bit of bother". Beppe tells Gianni that he wants him out of his flat and back in with their mum. Gianni and Rosa will never make it up if Gianni continues to live under his roof. Rosa tells Gianni that George has bought Annie's share of the restaurant and signed the rest over to Rosa. Gianni questions George's motives - it must be a con and he's not going to be taken in by it. Then Annie tells Gianni that she wants to make a fresh start. From now on, they're just friends. Ian tries to warn Melanie off Conor, telling her he's a bit of a rogue. He later apologises, he didn't realise that she was seeing him. "Who told you that?" she enquires. "He did." he says. Narked, Melanie has a word with Conor - how dare he say that they were an item when they are not; she's not interested in him. Tiffany tells Simon that she hopes to be out of hospital tomorrow. They plan for her to stay at Simon's when she gets out. Simon tries to convince Tiff to make a statement against Grant - Jamie and Bianca have. If she tells them that Grant did this, the police are bound to lock Grant up and Tiffany would get full custody of Courtney. "Get him out of your life once and for all" he advises her. Grant tells Peggy and Frank that he's going to visit Tiffany in hospital. Peggy warns him not to break the court order; it'll only cause trouble. However, Frank is more supportive, he tells Grant he and Peggy are behind him. He can understand why Grant feels he has to do this and wishes him luck. Grant is grateful for their support. Tiffany has another visit from the police, keen to find out if her memory has returned. Before leaving, DCI Mason tells her "I think you're a victim and if you don't open your mouth, you'll always be a victim. And Grant Mitchell, like all bullies in this world, they feed off victims. So, if you decide to change your mind, give me a call". Narrowly dodging the police, Grant visits Tiffany. She reaches for the panic button but he gets to her first. He just wants to talk to her and convinces her to let him stay. Grant tells her that it's over between him and Louise. They have to do what's right for Courtney now. "Oh I intend to…As soon as I can, I'm going to speak to a solicitor and I'm going to divorce you, and I'm going to make sure you never see her again". Tiff admits that Grant didn't push her down the stairs but it wouldn't take much to convince the police otherwise. Even his own mum thinks Grant did it! When Tiffany does push the panic button, alerting staff to come to her bedside, Grant is forced to leave. Will Tiffany really lie and tell the police that Grant tried to kill her when he didn't? What will Grant do if he never gets to see Courtney again? On his way out of the hospital, Grant meets Beppe who encourages him to take a swing at him, but he doesn't rise to the bait. Grant tells Beppe to watch himself at nights though. Beppe tells Tiffany that if she remembers what happened that night, she could put Grant away for a very long time. "But I do remember. I never forgot…I was at the top of the stairs and he pushed me". Beppe grins, it looks like Grant is going down after all.
