A comedy about a miserly grocer, who has his nephew working like a slave. Starring:
- RONNIE BARKER AS ARKWRIGHT, the shopkeeper, who doesn't like spending his money. He also tries in vain to get close to his fiance, Nurse Gladys Emmanuel.
- DAVID JASON AS GRANVILLE, Arkwright's nephew and 'errand-boy', who doesn't get much chance to be with women, due to his long hours in the shop.
- LINDA BARON AS NURSE GLADYS EMMANUEL, the district nurse, into whose bosom Arkwright would like to get. She lays down a few laws to Arkwright about love and money. She lives at home, where she looks after her mother.
