Mai Fest was a success !! The activities that many enjoyed were full of fun and entertainment that started with the
Kick Band from 12:00 to 4:00 P.M.
and then you can listen to one of the ....no America's Greatest German Band !!
Along with this you will also be entertained by the D Werdenfelser Bavarian Dancers with their Mai Pole Dance.
This Sheboygan Folk Dance Group Will Perform - Saturday Afternoon
Dressed in their ethnic costumes, the D'Werdenfelser Schuhplattlers will be be performing for Volkfest goers on Saturday afternoon, September 6th. The Schuhplattlers are noted for their Bavarian dancing.
The D'Werdenfelser Schuhplattlers were organized by Anton Reiter and Otto Schuster in 1934, in Sheboygan, Wi. German immigrants who came to America in 1920's and 1930's were from Wegscheid, Germany, made up the original Schuhplatttlers organization. One of the first decisions was to select an appropriate name for the club. (I wish it was something easier that I could spell)
Thus, the Bayerischer, Gerbirgs, Trachten, Erhaltungs, Verein D'Werdenfelser Stamm was founded. Translated into English, the name means Bavarian mountain, folk's costume and tradition club. (Whew !!)
D'Werdenfelser describes the Werdenfelser land, and Stamm means their club is registered in Madison, Wi.
Many of the Schuhplattler's dances are imitations of animals and birds. One fo the club specialties is the Holzhacker (woodchopper) dance.
They not only have an adult group but they also have a children's dance group. Their club is an active organization called the Gauverband Nord Amerika, made of dancing vereins from all over United States and Canada.

This store is my expression of my fondness for the things I grew up with and my way of sharing them with you. But when I entered Loon Lake, I experienced a calmness, and knew it was right to go ahead with my new adventure.
I will miss my customers from Waupun, but I now would like them to stop on by, to enjoy the sereneness of Loon Lake. Yes, I would like it very much if you could stop in, relax, and enjoy our European cafe.
