January
1st celebration of the memory
of Saint Vasilios, church of Saint Vasilios
at Christoforianika.
February
10th celebration of the memory
of Saint Charalambos, church of Saint Charalambos at Karavas.
March
Carnival takes place at Livadi and
Potamos with parades of masquerades and humorous plays.
25th
celebration of the annunciation of Virgin Mary, church of annunciation at
Lianianika.
April
During the Easter period there is a
litany of the icon of Panagia Mirtidiotissa around the villages, which
lasts 15 days. Begins in the Sunday of Orthodoxy and ends the Sunday of
Apostle Thomas. On
Friday after Easter the icon stops at Potamos where takes place a big
festival. This day is celebrated Zoodoxos Pigi (Life-giving Source).
May

of the memory Saint Constantine and Helen.
June
24th celebration of the memory
of Saint John, Rizikaris, church of Saint John at Ntourianika.

23rd celebration of the memory
of Saint Pelagia, church of Saint Pelagia at Agia Pelagia.
August
1st
celebration of the memory of Saint Ellesa, monastery of Saint Ellesa.
6th
celebration of the memory of Sotiros, monastery of Saint Moni (alone) and
Sotiro’s church at Kalamos.
Traditional
festival takes place at the small port of Avlemonas.
8th
–9th wine festival at Mitata where free wine is offered to
the visitors.
15th
celebration of the assumption of the Virgin Mary and a traditional
festival takes place at
the square of Potamos.
A
traditional festival takes place at the end of August at the square of
Frastia along with an
exhibition of local products.
During
the summer many cultural events take place at the open theatre in the
forest at Potamos.
There
is also an open cinema that plays movies in the yard of the elementary
school of Chora with a great view to the Venetian Castle and the graphical
port of Kapsali.
September
15th celebration of the memory
of Saint Nikitas, church of Saint Nikitas at Kalamos.
At
night a festival takes place at the yard of the Kalamos elementary school.
17th
celebration of the memory of Saint Sofia, Pisti, and Agapi, church of
Saint Sofia at Kalamos. This church is in a cave with many archaeological
foundings.
24th
celebration of the memory of Panagia Mirtidiotissa, monastery of Panagia
Mirtidiotissa at Mirtidia. This day is a local holiday.
A
traditional festival takes place at Agia Pelagia.
October
November
11th celebration of the memory
of Saint Mina, church of Saint Mina at Logothetianika
