Acts 2:41-47
Introduction:
A. It was at Antioch that believers in Christ were first called "Christians." They were referred as Christians because people saw a difference in them..
B. The word "Christian" means "Christ-like." They were "like Jesus Christ." People saw that and labeled them Christians.
C. Christians, born-again believer, made up the early church. The beginning of the church began at Penecost. Notice in this scripture first of all:
I. THE CHURCH:
A. It was first, UNIFIED: vs44
1. They had all things common:
2. They were in agreement about…
(a) Way of salvation
(b) Way or service
(c) Way of separation
B. It was second, MAGIFIED: vs47a
1. They were well thought of.. 'having favor..'
2. They preached Jesus as the way..truth..life
C. It was third, MULTIPLIED: vs47b
1. It had a powerful testimony among the unsaved..vs43
2. Not because of the miracles done…
(a) But because they loved each other
(b) But because they served the Lord
(c) People continued to be SAVED, what a church!
II. THE CHRISTIANS:
The Christians you meet in the book of Acts were not contented Christians: They were not content to meet for services once a week for "services as usual."
A. They met DAILY: vs46
1. Met with Singleness of heart
2. Met with Gladness of heart
B. They CARED daily: 6:1
