Second Peter 3:9 tells us in unmistakable terms, that God does not will for anyone to go to hell
but "that all come to repentance." It is not God's desire to send anyone to a place called
"lake of fire."
Because "God so loved the world...." he provided a way for mankind to escape such a place. But, in spite
of all that God has done, still mankind is racing toward eternity without God. God has tried
to slow man down and get him to look at his plight. He has even put up some road blocks to keep man
from going into eternity without Christ. Notice the road blocks:
I. THE BIBLE:
Every warning in the Word of God is there to keep a soul out of hell.
A. Romans 3:23..."For all have SINNED and come SHORT of the Glory of God."
We don't measure up to God's glory. We fall short and are transgresser's of his law.
B. Romans 6:23..."The wages of sin is DEATH, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord." There is a price to pay if you leave this life without Christ and it is eternal
separation from God.
II. THE CROSS:
A. God saw that man was going to sin, that he was going to break the law of God and
they were going to deserve hell. But, then in love and mercy, he provider a subsitute
for the sins of the world. Christ went to the cross and shed his precious blood that man
might be reconciled back to God.
