Summmary:
There are a variety of trails available in this area and we chose a 7km route. However, several others are available with the maximum being a 14km loop. We began on the Beinn Alasdair Bhain trail which is 3km long and then turned onto the 4km Cul Na Beinne (McKinnon's Brook Rd.) which will take you back to where you started. This diverse trail is well marked for various lookoffs and trails which you will encounter along the way. The majority of this trail is dominated by white spruce but there are also white birch, beech, Douglas fir and red maple. Robins, rose-breasted gros beak, black-capped chickadees, fox sparrows and song sparrows, the eastern phoebe and Wilson's warbler are the birds most likely to be seen along this trail.
Caution:
The sections of all trails that follow the shoreline, especially on the way to Sight Point, are steep and narrow. Extreme caution must be used when traversing these areas.
