My Mann Home Page
Mary Jane Mann was b. c. 1822 in Virginia. I don't know who her parents are and I don't know when they arrived in Mississippi. She m. George S. Applegate on 1 Apr. 1840 in Carroll Co., MS and they lived in the area that later became Montgomery Co., MS. George died there in 1887 and named his wife in his will so she was still living then. The only MANN in the 1840 Carroll Co., MS census is a Magnam MANN (I suppose this is a gross mispelling of Haman Mann who is in the 1850 census). But in 1850 he has a child named Mary age 13 living with him. Could he be an uncle, brother, cousin of Mary Jane? I have no more information on her or her parents. Any help appreciated.
