Pink Floyd has had a great influence on my style
of music. When I first began to listen to Pink Floyd a
few years ago, I really only listened to them for their
odd sound effects. The one song that leaves a lasting
impression in my head is "Several Species of Small Furry
Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With A
Pict." It's long and irregular title was it's drawing
card when I was shuffling through some of my father's
old records. I played it and loved it. The whole 'song'
told a story, and so I searched until I found more Pink
Floyd records. When I rendered from listening to Umma
Gumma and played "Dark Side of The Moon," I really
started to appreciate the musical quality of The Pink
Floyd Sound.
My name is Michael Fredericks and I am 16 years
old. I live in a small town in Canada with my mom and dad. I have an older brother and sister who don't live at home. I play drums. I play not only for my own enjoyment,
but for a couple christian groups, a provincial Jazz band and a garage band.
I also play piano, guitar, bass, and do some singing.
My musical influences include:
Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, The Band, Cream, Blind Faith,
the Guess Who, The Who, Manic Street Preachers,
The Holiday Snaps, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles,
Billy Cobham, The Eagles, Powder Blues, The Allman
Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Spin Doctors and the
list goes on.
