Who wants to know?!

It all started on a cold wintery Saturday morning...December 9th, 1978. Mom went into labor at 5AM with her first child (it was #2 for Dad). It was blizzardy and miserable in Bangor, ME, that day. At 11:36PM my parents were blessed with....well, me. 8lbs and 8oz. I was a chubby baby, but fairly cute (if my opinion counts for anything). After some argument, they named me Ann-Marie. The middle name was unnecessary I guess (I've always felt a little jipped though). 23 months later, they gave me a sister (Lorraine). Until the age of six we lived in a little white house right in Bangor. That year my parents divorced. Dad stayed in the house, and Mom, Lorrie and I moved to Springvale, ME, to live with my grandparents.

After a year there, Mom got a job which allowed her to support us, so we moved out of my grandparents' house and into a little apartment in Biddeford. It wasn't the greatest part of town, but I wouldn't have been able to guess that. I finished 1st grade there, and we stayed there happily until Mom got another job back in Sanford right after my 3rd grade year. So we moved into a garage apartment in Springvale. In 7th grade my mom met her 2nd husband, which allowed us to move into a house that next year. It was great.

My high school experience was pretty good. I was involved, and found a great group of people to hang aound with. I went to my junior prom with my best friend. Senior Prom was the best...a few girls and I went stag. I couldn't have asked for a better time. Graduation came none too soon. Though my first choice college was Elmira (in Elmira, NY), the University of Maine (Orono) gave me more aid. After the spring '99 semester, I was given the fall off to decide what I wanted to do with my life, and if college played into that future. I moved back home in August and found a job as receptionist for the Portland Phoenix (sister paper to the Boston Phoenix (an alternative newsweekly), and 92.1 FNX . I returned to the University in January as a women's studies major. I share an apartment (my first) with an awesome roommate. If I'm not studying, sleeping, or burning something (I'm learning how to cook--oh the joy!), I'm in the union at the Union Board office. (we do campus entertainment--I've just begun my stint as the group's President)
My sister is a sophomore sociology major...just transferred from the University of Connecticut to USM. My mom works full-time in Portland and lives in my Memere's house in Springvale (Mom and Dan divorced this past year after he cheated on her while she went through treatments for cancer after having a bilateral mastectomy in March of 1997.)

I'm a people person. I enjoy being around people most of the time. I laugh entirely too much, and I go out of my way trying to be funny (I'm often unsuccessful...I've learned to push on, regardless...as long as I'm amused, it's okay). I'm indecisive. I'm agreeable yet stubborn. I enjoy listening to others.

SPEAKING OF LIKES...:

--I like people
--I like music (listening to it primarily. I don't sing that well (I don't sound half bad in the shower...), and I don't play an instrument)
--I LOVE to dance (no real talent...I just move whatever I can make move...as of recent, I've been comapred to a muppet)

--I like "Ally McBeal" (quite possibly one of the finest shows on television next to "Little House on the Prairie" (which I'm rediscovering through reruns)).
--I like to write. I can't write anything serious to save my life, but I do play around with limericks and parodies. If you feel like looking around a bit, feel free to check out "COS Hell", inspired by one of my classes. Hey, it amuses me...

Okay...I don't want to deter you from the rest of my page by going on and on about me. Any questions? Is this too much? Questions and comments are welcomed...just sign the slambook back on the main page (follow the handy-dandy link). : )
