The BaltimoreVTES Black Hand Pre-Release
Glen Burnie Maryland 15 November 2003

The Baltimore BH pre-release was a huge success. There were 31 "regulars" and one newbie in attendance. Folks were crawling out of the "Pennsatucky" woods for this one. The only damper was that we had to turn away a few folks because we ran out of decks. Most of the disappointed players were local (from the Glen Burnie area), but one was from Rockville, MD, about an hour away by car.

Alliance Games, the retailer's distributor, would not send more than four boxes of decks, despite the Retailer Ed's protests during the ordering process. Ed Sloman, the owner of "Games and Comics…and Stuff" was miffed with Alliance…as was I, but inasmuch as we all thought 30 was a viable number, four boxes were appropriate.

Going into the finals the top five standings were:

!NOS Colin Riggs
!TRE Matt Morgan
!NOS Trey Morita
!TRE Kyle Burton
!MAL Martin Henley

The finals were predetermined to include the top clan player for each clan, plus the highest rated clan runner-up. Trey was the “wild card,” runner-up; unfortunately that meant that Kyle got bumped for the highest ranked Torry Deck. Kyle received a booster pack for his efforts and Kevin Karpinski took Kyle’s seat at the finals table.

The seating was Matt bleeding Kevin, bleeding Trey, bleeding Colin, bleeding Martin. After the blood letting the final standing looked like this:

Trey 2.5 FVPs
Matt 0.5 FVPs
Kevin 0.5 FVPs
Colin 0.0 FVPs
Martin 0.0 FVPs

What follows is the MS word-fizzed Archon for Baltimore's BH event. The Archon didn't seem to want to acknowledge that the finals are over. The ranking does not include the outcome of the final.

I also had problems with the indents...sometimes when I preview it, it all looks okay and sometimes not.... In any event, I want to get this out. Please review for substance and not form. Got ta, got ta, got ta, gat ta get it out. It's way past lunch-time.
