The First Miracle Of Jesus

Turning Water Into Wine

John: 2:11
This beginning of miracles
did Jesus in Cana of Galilee,
and manifested forth His glory;
and His desciples belived on Him.

He asked the servants to fill the six stone
waterpots with water, those used for Jewish
purification rites. When the servants complied, He
turned the water into wine for the wedding.

Christians tend to get involved in discussions as
to why Jesus and his mother would be so concerned
about having enough wine for a wedding.
Many of us refuse to touch alcoholic beverages
and often attempt to prove that the wine may not
have been fermented. Whether it was or whether it
wasn't is completely irrelevant
to the reason behind the miracle.

It was Jesus' first miracle, and it was the most
important. Its importance was not because of the
physical act of changing water into wine, but
because the miracle portrays the reason
for Jesus' entire ministry.

The Jews washed with water as an outward sign of
cleansing from sin. They worked very hard
to obey the laws of Moses, but often became self-
righteous in thinking they did all the right things.
Jesus said,

"Except your righteousness
exceed the righteousness
of the scribes and Pharisees
ye shall in no case enter
into the kingdom of heaven"
Matt.5:20.

The beginning of Christ's miracles was turning
water into wine; which shows the difference
between the law of Moses and the gospel of Christ.
Water represents cleansing from sin,
wine represents the blood of Jesus
which is needed to do it.

We are righteous only because of Jesus' death
and resurrection; we can't do it by our own efforts.
We drink the cup at our communion services
to remind us of the fact.
This act of communion of his blood with ours
is the Christian's purification rites.

We must follow Jesus' instructions to have our
waterpots filled and ready, as did the servants.
This means we must recognize our own inability
to keep God's laws and be willing to accept the
redemptive power of Jesus' blood to make us righteous (Eph.2:9). The New Testament law of love is the new wine created by Jesus.

The six waterpots for purification rites remind us
of our need for purification from sin.
Jesus does this by filling us with the new wine
of His Spirit, the wine which gladdens the
marriage feast of the Bridegroom and his Bride--
Jesus and His church.
Jesus came to give us this new wine.

This manifesting of the glory of Christ is the
great confirmation of the faith of Christians

A basilica was built on the site where this
First Miracle of Jesus took place.
And inside is a shrine depicting a large water jar.

This large water jug can hold 20-30 gallons of water.

When Jesus told the servants to fill the water jars,
he chose jars which held the water for ceremonial cleansing.

Jesus chose containers that were imperfect for
the task of making and storing wine.

The same can be said for us as Christians:
Jesus chooses us,
imperfect vessels,
to be his temple,
and he fills us with his Holy Spirit.

The Lord had the servants fill the water jugs up to the brim with water
It was only when filed to the brim that the water was turned to wine.
We are like those water jugs;
As we daily fill our selves with the word of God
From our feet, to our waist to our chest to our mouths and ears
We are visibly and greatly and transformed by The Holy Spirit.

The rationale or message of this miracle is;
Christ has the power to change your life
into something as sweet and enjoyable
as this new wine
if you will let him.

If he can take water and change it into wine,
then he can take your bitter heart and change it
into something God and others can enjoy."

Have you been Born-Again?
Has he turned your water into wine?
And given you knowledge and grace?
Reach out to God. Decide to seek the Lord,
He is always close at hand. Acts 17:27.

"For all have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God"
Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life
thru Christ Jesus the Lord."
Romans 6:23

"As it is written, There is none righteous,
no, not one.
"Romans 3:10

The GOOD News
GOD DOES NOT WANT YOU TO PERISH ...
YOU HAVE HIS WORD ON IT.

"For God so loved the world
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish,
but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

"And this is the record,
that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son."
I John 5: 11

"For the son of man is come
to seek and to save that that which was lost."
Luke 19:10

It Is YOUR Decision

You must completely turn from "Your Worldly Way"
and completely trust Jesus Christ to Save You.

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and thou shalt be saved"
Acts 16:31a

"Jesus said; "I am the resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet
shall he live. John 11:25

"Behold now is the accepted time;
behold now is the day of salvation"
2 Corinthians 6:2

Tomorrow is promised to no man.
If you have never been born again,
ask God to save you right now.
If you have been saved
but have walked away from God,
it is not too late to come back to Him.
If we do not repent,
we can become hardened in our hearts
and fall away from God.

"If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"
1 John 1:9

Just like a natural father does not stop
loving his children when they disobey,
God does not stop loving us when we disobey.
He loves us so much that He has provided a way of forgiveness,
if we will only ask.

"Neither is there salvation in any other;
for there is none other name under heaven given
whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

There is salvation in no other name
than the name of *JESUS*;
not in a Shinto shrine, not in New Age philosophy,
not in religious denominationalism.
There is salvation only in the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
If you will ask Him to,
He will come into your life and make you new --
from the inside out!
The choice is yours.
Heaven or hell,
life or death,
blessing or cursing,
it's your choice.

Whether you need to accept Jesus Christ
for the first time,
or you need to make a new commitment to Him,
from the bottom of my heart, I urge you
to make your life right with God today!

Pray This Prayer From the Heart

Salvation Prayer

Pray this prayer aloud……….

Father, I come to you, just like I am.
I have been born into a world of sin and I have sinned.
I ask you to forgive me and to change me.
I believe that you are the Son of God;
that you were crucified, died and buried
and on the third day you rose from the dead,
victorious over Satan and his curses against mankind.

Now Satan, you are not my God.
You have no power over me.
I will not serve you.
I am covered with the Blood of the Lamb
and you cannot penetrate that Blood
to bring your curses of poverty, sickness,
and sin on me and my family.

Thank you, Jesus that I am continually forgiven by your blood,
that I have inherited a blessing of prosperity,
that I am healed by your stripes
and that I will spend eternity in heaven praising God.

I ask you Father, to fill me with your Holy Spirit
so that my life on earth will be a glory to you.
Thank you Lord. Amen

By believing in Jesus Christ and receiving Him as your Savior, as you just did,you will now turn your life in a new direction. You can now be at peace with God, knowing you will live forever with Him.

If you prayed this prayer, we would love to hear from you and will take any more prayer requests you may have. Until then may God Bless you Abundantly as you seek to please Him in all things. Amen!

I Love You In Christ,
EsyRose

SONG OF THANKFULNESS AND PRAISE
(Background midi Christopher Wordsworth, 1862)
Thank you brother Leslie for helping me find this perfect midi!

Songs of thankfulness and praise,
Jesus, Lord, to thee we raise,
manifested by the star
to the sages from afar;
branch of royal David's stem
in thy birth at Bethlehem;
anthems be to thee addressed,
God in man made manifest.

Manifest at Jordan's stream,
Prophet, Priest and King supreme;
and at Cana, wedding guest,
in thy Godhead manifest;
manifest in power divine,
changing water into wine;
anthems be to thee addressed,
God in man made manifest.

Manifest in making whole
palsied limbs and fainting soul;
manifest in valiant fight,
quelling all the devil's might;
manifest in gracious will,
ever bringing good from ill;
anthems be to thee addressed,
God in man made manifest.

Sun and moon shall darkened be,
stars shall fall, the heavens shall flee;
Christ will then like lightning shine,
all will see his glorious sign;
all will then the trumpet hear,
all will see the Judge appear;
thou by all wilt be confessed,
God in man made manifest.

Grant us grace to see thee, Lord,
mirrored in thy holy Word;
may we imitate thee now,
and be pure, as pure art thou;
that we like to thee may be
at thy great Epiphany;
and may praise thee, ever blest,
God in man made manifest.
