Welcome
PC Lovers !!
It's heading rapidly toward Autumn, and the Center for Community and Economic Development has sent out their list of Fall Education Courses.
(You should have gotten one in the mail!)
Before you toss it in the Recycling Bin, take a peek at pages 10 thru 15, that have to do with Computer Skills! There are a number of really interesting looking classes for all kinds of "skills" that are computer-related. They even have one that will teach me how to type!!!
If you really love that PC, pay attention to this note!!!
There is a new "Virus" that is going around that is made to look like a "Holiday Giveaway" ! I checked into this, and this is a real problem!!!
If you receive any E-mails from an "unknown" source with the Heading "WIN A HOLIDAY" do not open it!!!
Delete that sucker right off, and you'll be fine. If you do open it, it could very well delete all the information in your Hard Drive, and you'll be calling tech-support to get everything re-installed!

Our last
meeting
Our last meeting was the Picnic at Verona Beach State Park. It was a sparse crowd, but those there had a good time and we talked a bit about the Internet and the different sites we've found and enjoyed.
Doug passed out a few certificates for attendance, and fielded the questions that we always have for him with his usual, good natured ease. There was plenty to eat, and
a reality tasty cake for desert.
This month's meeting will be at A B P Computer Services on Main Street , and will feature a video demonstration on how to use Windows 95!!
Wed. Sept 2nd is the date, 6PM the time!!
Doug has gone to a bit of trouble to get the room at the rear of his fledgling business ready for the meeting, and for use as a computer-learning center,
so try to show up and reap the benefits of his work and knowledge!

What's
new !
Eastman-Kodak, the company that basically started personal photography has moved into cyberspace! Check out
http://kodak55.photonet.com/cgi-pv/ok.pl?0/aboutPhotonet.html
for information on how to have your favorite photos sent to you in your e-mail! There is a lot more to this, and other features to explore at this site!
This next site is one I discovered and really enjoyed! It's a website where they have over 200 paintings by Salvador Dali, the famous surrealist painter
http://members.xoom.com/daliweb/
If Dali's works are too strange for your taste, but you like art, try
http://www.postershop.com/artist/monet/mon0001_e.htm
This is actually a poster shop, but I picked the paintings I liked, and downloaded them to my hard drive so that I could enjoy them any time I choose to! I did the same with all the Dalis! They both make great greeting cards!
Gardeners, cooks and anyone who enjoys putzing around the house will like this next site!!!
http://www.bhglive.com/
This is Better Homes and Gardens
Magazine on the Internet!! There is a lot to see and enjoy at this site, even if you aren't all that handy in the kitchen, and have a "Brown Thumb"!
I have a few more sites I've been sent by members that are really great, but they'll have to wait for the next Newsletter.

HELP!!!
All the sites I have mentioned in this month's Newsletter have long URLs
Before you get out that crayon and start writing them down, try the following procedure!!
Highlight the actual site URL and then right-click your mouse and either "cut" or "copy" it! You then can go to your homepage on the Internet, and paste it on to the spot where you type your site destination. Click on it and you are on your way to that site. This is a lot easier and more accurate than trying to write them down, and transpose manually!!
As long as we're talking about sites, I want to remind you members that I get a lot of these sites from you!!! I do "surf" the "Net" a bit myself, and I'm sure some of you do as well. A few members do send me a lot of interesting
places to visit in Cyberspace, but I'm sure there is a place you have in your "Favorites" as a great site to go to.
Don't "bogart" that fun place!! Send it to me in my e-mail, and I'll look at it and share it with the group if it isn't too
"racy!! I also welcome any comments and Ideas that will help make this a better Newsletter for all the members!!!
Pitch in and send me your ideas, they are always welcome!!!!
I hope to see you all at the next meeting!!
