Welcome
PC Lovers !!
Have you ever had a bad program on your hard drive and couldn't seem to re-install it properly? It may be necessary, in some cases, to
un-install,then run scandisc, and the defragmentation mode, and then re-install the program. In this way you should get the program back in shape!
When working "Offline", do you sometimes wish for an easy way to get back on? Just ask! Ask the computer anything that requires you to be "Online", and it should give you a "prompt" to offer to hook you up! Pick a "favorite" and see how it works!
Should you learn DOS? It can't hurt, if you have the interest in getting to the "roots" of the modern systems and you wil certainly need it if you plan on doing any of your own "fixes", when your beloved PC throws you a high
curveball! For the average "joe", DOS may be a thing of the past.

Our last
meeting
The "woes" of poor Mr. Bill Gates was discussed ,
along with the "pros" and "cons" of getting "Windows 98" as soon as it hits the retailers. Since it is only slightly different from Win
95c, and as most new products will, Win 98 is bound to have some "flaws" that need to be ironed out. It may be wise to wait for Win 98b or
98c, if need be, before getting on the band wagon. In
the meantime, Macintosh may have something to offer!! HaHaHa!!
A couple of members have noted that they had trouble with Dreamscape in that they exited , and it didn't take them offline automatically! If you notice this too, maybe a call to the company will help get it fixed!
If you buy a computer with Win 95 installed, make
sure they have some support the buyer at the outlet
It seems that Microsoft may tell you that you have to get "tech" support from the end seller!
There is no meeting in July!! The Picnic Meeting is scheduled for the 1st Wed in August at Verona Beach St Park

What's
new !
Dreamscape, the company that brought the Internet to the Oneida-Munnsville area, (thank God) has gotten their delivery speed up over the 56k of most modems! Oneida enjoys this faster download, but its still less than 20k in the Munsville area! Thank you Alltel!
You might want to ensure that your modem is set properly to make use of his new, faster delivery speed of info.
For those of us who are a bit "slow" on the uptake, or are forgetful, there is an Internet Program called "Dunce"
(www.dunce.com) It can remember your passwords for you, and make getting online quicker and easier for those who don't have kids around to protect!
Highly recommended for those wh ohave little time or patience!
Puzzled by computer "technophrases"? Tom has given the group this site!
www.pcwebopaedia.com/
It's supposed to be one of the best for info!

HELP!!!
The picnic is going to be on us soon, so we need to get organized ! For those who have been on the planet "Squiggy" for the past two months, we're planning to hold the August 5th meeting at Verona Beach State Park!
It's a picnic, and meeting all in one neat package!
Each member should have gotten an e-mail, requesting input as to how many are coming, and who is bringing what! (salads-chips etc)
Let myself. or Doug, the fearless leader of the group,
know by e-mail, or in person at ABP Computer Svces
What could be better than hotdogs and conversation about the world we have discovered through the power of our home PCs!
It's scheduled to start at the regular time (6PM)
and you must bring your own meats!
