Welcome PC Lovers !!

Now,  let's see.................
The largest(and basically ONLY!) cable-based ISP (internet service provider) in this area is
Road Runner
a Time-Warner Cable Company. AND, the largest Phone-line based ISP is
America Online(AOL).
I have to now wonder, which senerio will unfold. Will AOL now offer a cable-based version of the popular RoadRunner High Speed Internet Server
And "compete" with itself for members? Or will AOL members find themselves inundated with "offer" from Time-Warner, to draw them away from AOL? Neither possibility seems like  a pillar of the "Free Enterprise System" that we are supposed to enjoy! Hey, Judge, "what'syername"You know, the one that went after Bill Gates! How about a monopoly ruling on this one?
I've been checking out sites that offer "lines, backgrounds and icons, so that I can keep up the website with a little pazazz! Some will notice that I've added an imbedded midi(music) to the site, and I welcome any of you members who have links to sites that have these graphics, send them to me, so I can keep adding new and better stuff!
I also welcome comments, and might entertain a few words from the members(if you have anything to add or say to the Group!

Our last meeting

I wish, at this time, to send my most
sincere regrets to those poor souls who joined me on the sidewalk in front of ABP last Wednesday. It was quite chilly out there! For those of you who missed the meeting,
SUPRISE!! You didn't miss a thing!  8 or 9 of us had a small impromptu meeting "Al Fresco" but it was just too windy to take notes! I have to believe that something unexpected happened to keep Doug from the meeting, and will advise as to the plans for future meetings (etc) by e-mail.Ohhhhh, that Reminds me!!! Any of you members who know of others who don't receive the e-mails, and notices of new Newsletter publication, get me their e-mail addresses! I'll add them to the list of members, and they will be getting their notifications at the same time you do!

As far as I know (don't quote me though) we will still be scheduling the meetings for the 2nd Wednesdays every month at 6PM! I'll keep all you loyal members posted as i hear more though, and if there is a change, you will hear it right after i do!!

The NEXT MEETING, will be on the
9th of February(as far as i know) and I'll keep all members posted as I hear more!

What's new !
In a recent Newsletter, I put forth the idea that, one day in the near future, the conventional telephone would be a curiosity, in old peoples homes only. That day may be here sooner than I thought! AOL Instant Messenger now offers a person-to-person talk mode online, in their newest version.(AIM 3.5 1713b) I have it, and, although I haven't used it yet, it offers all the same options that ICQ(with QTalk) has offered for quite some time.Yahoo Messenger also has a "talk" option too I'm told.
The best is yet to be discovered, however. "Roger-Wilco" offers, not only a way to talk to anyone in the world, like a phone conversation, they also offer a "conference line" option, where numerous people may join in a "call"simultaneously!
