                The "official" newsletter of

    Welcome
  PC Lovers !!

Windows 98 has hit
the marketplace, and a
few people have experienced "problems" that
could have been foreseen!
I haven't heard anything major wrong (yet) but I
know of one user who has had a crash or two since "upgrading" from
good old Win 95c!! I
think I'll wait a bit!
  Roadrunner, that ultra-
fast New cable-based
access medium has taken the area by storm! I have heard that it's "super"!
It's also 40 bucks a month!! And you have to pay 70-100 dollars more for the initial installation.
Hang on to your cash,
and watch for "Ma Bell"
to get in the action. ATT
has purchased a major cable-provider, and I don't think they want to get in the television business!
I'll be willing to bet my
monitor that there's a
"price-war" in the cable/access future!! That's when the cost will be brought into line with
the rest of the net service
providers.

Our last
  meeting

If you made the
Group meeting in July, you must have been lonely, because there wasn't one!  We had
decided that everyone would be too busy having fun in the sun, so we skipped the July meeting entirely! I did
get a few "sites" from
members, that  I 'll pass on to you all!
For anyone who likes
to celebrate the special holidays during the year, try:
www.kate.net/holidays
Its got great photos, and screensavers and links to other holiday-related sites, and tidbits  that everyone will enjoy!
www.av.ibm.com/BreakingNews
This is a great site for
info on the latest in
"anti-virus" tech tips
and other related topics, brought to you by
the folks at IBM

What's
    new !

It's summertime, and in the summer, folks fancies turn to thoughts of that
much-needed vacation! If you are going to head east toward Massachusetts,
(or even if you aren't) I
recommend you check out this site!
www.mass-vacation.com
It's a great place to get
info on that states attractions, and they even teach you how to eat lobster like a native!
Dreamscape's homepage
is nice, as is AOL's but you aren't stuck with it you know! You can set your computer to start with any page you like!
I recently have been checking out the news at
www.abcnews.com
which is on the front page of Alta Vista(a search engine). I had it as my home
page for a while, then changed it back again. just to see how it was done.
It's no great magic, people
and you may want to try it with your own personal
favorite sites!

HELP!!!
The picnic is almost upon us, and there are still those who haven't sent in any responses as to if they plan to attend!
Our Aug 5th meeting is going to be at
Verona Beach Park
Please contact myself  or Doug (at ABP) as to  if you are attending or not!

I wish to thank those of you who sent me some of the
items I included in this month's newsletter!  It's a big world out there, full of wonders, and sharing them is what makes it worthwhile.
