The Union Mills Homestead is the perfect historic venue for an old fashioned corn roast.
The second largest crowd ever turned out on August 1, 2009 for the best corn this side of the Mississippi.
The annual event is hosted by The Silver Run- Union Mills Lions Club and the Shriver Homestead Foundation.
The corn was delicious.
A ticket bought a chicken dinner and all-you-can eat corn on the cob, roasted the old fashioned way!
The corn was soaked in tubs before hitting the grills.
It was covered with burlap and hosed to keep it moist while roasting atop the cookstoves.
Volunteer workers kept the corn moist.
It was delivered to the tables...
and enjoyed by all!
Volunteers made it fun!
All day work by volunteers at hot stoves...
made a lovely day for all!
