letter should ask “What is FEMA’s role in cleanup?”.

-mention
date, casualties, major buildings and utilities affected.
(keep in mind that the quake happened 24 hours before the
paper was published)
II. City Editor
1.
Page 2 Editorial. Subject: “Working
Together to Rebuild the
City
and help Others, What Can You Do.”
2.
Article about how earthquakes have affected the city and surrounding
areas in the past (Charts can be helpful).
3.
List of businesses closed, schools closed, etc. Mention city offices.
4.
Article about where to go to get help (churches, fire departments, Red
Cross, FEMA.)
5.
Article about shelters, if housing has been destroyed.
III. Science Editor
1. Article (page one at bottom) about
earthquake waves, resonance and
amplitude effects on structures.
2. Article (page 4) about faults, energy of
slipping plates and tsunamis.
3. Map of city, showing hardest hit areas and
location of the fault relative
to the damage.
4. Drawing of waves (page 4) explaining types
of waves and parts of waves.
5.
Map of city (page 2) helping the city editor map out where businesses
are
closed and where evacuation routes are.
IV. Lifestyles Editor
1. Article (page 3) about what at least 6
survivors had to endure (interviews)
2. Article (page 2, bottom) about the need for
community involvement to get
schools, churches and athletic fields
back in working order.
3. Article about police/fire/rescue point of
view in this disaster.
(Interviews are nice.)
4. Article about all the canceled events in the
city for the next week.
5. Original advertisements for the Red Cross
(you may want to research what they
do.)
V. Sports Editor
1.
Article about how fields & stadiums have been damaged along with
people’s
opinions of this (taxes and inconvenience)
2.
Article about how teams have volunteered in the community to help out.
3.
Interview with power company officials regarding full service of power
being
restored.
4.
Article about affects of earthquake on mass transportation (buses, subway,
and
airports with a map).
5. Article (page 4) about how the federal
government will aid in the clean-up of
the area (FEMA, National Guard, Army
Corps of Engineers).
