First Generation

Richard Lewis born about 1682 in Montgomeryshire, Wales. Died 1 April 1725 in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was married about 1703 to Mrs. Hester Mary Lewis born about 1676 in Montgomereyshire, Wales. Died 14 December 1726 in Germantown, Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
Their Children:
i. James Lewis born about 1704 in Dolobran, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Died 20 January 1744 Cumru Twonship, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Buried at the Exeter Friends Meeting Cemetery. He was married about 1725 to Sarah Potts born 16 November 1706 in Bristol Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Died about 1790.

Second Generation

Their Children:
i. Rachel Lewis born about 1726 in Cumru Twp., Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died 15 March 1779 in Reading, Berks Co., Pennsylvania.
ii. Richard Lewis born about 1727 in Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died August 1793 in Reading, Berks Co., Pennsylvania.
iii. James Lewis born about 1728 in Potts Grove, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died 11 April 1815 in Cumru Township, Berks Co., Pennsylvania.
iv. Daniel Lewis born 30 August 1730 in Cumru Township, Cumberland, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died about 1802 in Rowan North Carolina. He was married about 1755 to Hannah Wilcox born about 1742 in Rowan, North Carolina. Died about 1820
v. Rebecca Lewis born about 1732 in Cumru Township, Poots Grove, Berks Co., Pennsylvania.
vi. Lydia Lewis born about 1733 in Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died 29 November 1821 in Hampshire Virginia.
vii. Thomas Lewis born about 1734 in Berks Co., Pennsylvania. Died 1 November 1761.

i. Sarah Lewis born about 1760 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. Died about 1835. She was married about 1775 in Rowan Co., North Carolina to Joseph Lewis born about 1756 in Rowan Co., North Carolina. Died about 1779 in Virginia.
ii. James Lewis born about 1762 in Salisbury, Rowan Co.North Carolina. Died about 1767.
iii. Hannah Lewis born about 1764 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina.
iv. Daniel Lewis born 13 October 1767 in Salisbury, Rowan Co., North Carolina. Died about 1820 in Greene Co., Ohio.

Rachel Lewis: Rachel Lewis: Quaker Records, Exter Monthly Meeting, Berks Co., PA., Marriages 1759-1816 S.L.C. US/CAN 974.8 A1, #600, lists the marriage of Samuel Embree, son of Mosesa Embree of TWP, Robinson in Lancaster Co., PA. and Rachel Lewis, daughter of James Lewis of Cumru TWP., of the county and Province aforesaid, were married at Robinson Meeting the 26th day of the 2nd month 1743.

James Lewis: James Lewis: Tax records from 1767 indicate that James owned a farm of 150 acres, 4 horses , 4 cattle, and 6 sheep for which was taxed 13 pounds. He also bought a grist mill from Jeremiah Pierson in West Nantmeal now known as the Lewis Mill. The Lewis Family operated three grist mills at the time, one on Lewis Mill Road, one on Bollinger Road and one on Cupola Road. James was a member of the Committee of Observation, Dec 5, 1774. The will of James Lewis was filed on Apr 18, 1815 in Berks, Co., PA. The will provide for sons James and Curtis to receive the plantatin where I live, 140 acres for 300 pounds. To son Nehemiah 4 tracts in Cumru and 2 tracts in the "Flying Hills" for 1100 pounds. Akk estate divided into 8 equal Shares to son James, Children of son William, deceased, Richard, John, Curtis, Nehemiah, Abigail wife of Henry Lutz and Eleanor wife of William Morris. Daniel Lewis: Buried at the Dutchman Creek Baptist Cemetery, Salisbury District, Rowan, NC Born at the Lewis Homestead, Cumru township, Berks, PA His will was written 19 Mar 1801 at the Lewis Homestead, Salisbury District, Rowan, NC 17 Feb 1769 Daniel Lewis Sr. is appointed Constable instead of Aaron Vancleft 16 Feb 1770 Thomas Jones is appointed Constable instead of Daniel Lewis Sr.

Thomas Lewis: Thomas Lewis: Will Notes; Darby. 16 Feb 1761. 3 Mar 1761; To son John Thomas s/60. To my 3 other sons Nathan, Lewis and Issaac s/60; At 21, to daughter Mary s/40 at 21 or marriage, also household goods; The remainder equally divided; Executors: Cousin John Thomas of Blockley and Abraham Johnson of ?; Darby. Witnesses: John Sellers, William Garrett, John Hayes.

Daniel and Hannah Lewis Family: Rec of Ada Lewis Myers, Auburn, Washington. Lewisiana has records of the descendants of Daniel, 1767-1820, who married about 1792, Hannah Stapleton, whose parents died in Maryland about 1760. Among his descendants if a tradition that they are descendants of Major John and Francis Fielding Lewis and were near relatives of Capt. Merriweather Lewis, the Oregon explorer.
