03/28/09- It's Groundhog Day!!! The same success today as yesterday. Here is the story. In August I sent to Billy Shaw wrote a $5 check for the fund he ask's donations for wrote my request letter and sase sealed it up and sent it on the way, even wrote doantion enclosed. Well, a few months later I am going thru the donation checkbook and discover that I tore the check off and placed it the register part so no check was included in my request in August. I know, Im an idiot, anyway when I was at the Chantilly show last weekend I picked up some old football cards to send out and I got another Billy Shaw card to mail. So on the 23rd I sent it out with an apology and included a $5 check for his foundation. Yesterday I got my card from August back signed with a doantion request. I figured he just signed that and kept the other card. So today, I get one success, and it's Billy Shaw in 5 days from the addy in Harvey 09. 03/21/09- Alot to talk about today, went to the CSA Chantilly Show today. I had autograph tickets for John Elway, Bart Starr and Jim Taylor. All 3 were nice, Jim Taylor seemed kinda shy but warmed up the more people he met. I also purchased a Rod Woodson signed jersey from 118 Sports Memorabilia. He had gotten the jerseys signed the last time Woodson was in town, before his HOF induction. I got a great deal on it, $50!!! now that makes 4 jerseys in my collection, John Stallworth, Reggie Jackson, Darryl Strawberry and Rod Woodson. Ok, next I had some good luck while I was there besides the great Woodson buy, I purchased one of the Tri-Star Hidden Treasures. When I opened it, I pulled out a Yogi Berra signed baseball!!! Ok, I figured my luck was good I would get a box of, Be A Player Hockey Cards. They have 8 packs per box with a autograph in each pack. Here are the autos I pulled: Joe Sakic, Alexander Semin, Stephen Weiss, Tim Connolly, Trevor Linden, Tuomo Ruutu, a double signature card of the Flyers Mike Richards and Mike Knuble and finally Jordin Tootoo. Then when I got home I had a TTM success waiting for me. Could be the Cubs closer this year, Carlos Marmol signed 2 cards in 1 1/2 months c/o Cubs ST. WHEW!!! What a day, That's all for now. I received it back today signed in black thin sharpie, he also included a signed 8x10 that said Best Wishes and was signed in blue. A yellow sticky was attached to my 8x10 top loader that said Thanks Ross. It took 2 months and 3 weeks to received it back c/o Face Productions. Next, arguably the best goalie ever, Glenn Hall signed 2 cards for me in 19 days from the addy in Harvey 09. He also returned my $10 check!!! Also answered both questions. One from the gridiron, one of the best linebackers ever, also one of the worst executives ever Matt Millen signed 2 cards in 14 days from the addy in Harvey 09, Matt also answered 2 out of 3 questions I asked. 01/26/09- Anothr Yankees baseball. Today I got recently retired ex-Yankees P Mike Mussina on a omlb. He signed in 14 days from his home addy in PA. This was a success that almost wasn't. My wife had gotten the mail earlier from the box. It wasn't our normal mailman(Phil)but a substitute. So I got home from work and was disappointed to see no successes in the mail pile. I had to take the trash out for "trash day" tomorrow. So after I wheeled the can down to the road I walked past the mailbox and thought I would re-check to see if a stray envelope had hidden in the back of the box. Well to my surprise as I reach to the back I feel a envelope!!! At first I am worried it is a 8x10 that has been crushed, but as I remove it I can tell it is a large bubble mailer!!! It turned out to be the Mussina ball. What happened was the mailperson had stuck the ball in and used the rest of the mail/magazines to push it in and actually crush it to the back of the box. So when Lynne took the mail out it was no where to be seen. She was shocked when I showed her the mailer and ball. I was just happy I had a success!!! Only thing I can say is, PLEASE PHIL BE BACK TOMORROW!!! GOD BLESS!!!

01/23/09- A good day at the mailbox. First I completed a trade with Kevin a buddy of mine from SportsCollectors.Net. He needed a Tom Seaver signed omlb with HOF inscription. I was looking for a Mariano Rivera signed omlb to add to my Yankees closers project. I had a Seaver ball and he had a Mariano ball, so we traded. The ball is awesome, now the only signed omlb I need for my Yankees closers project is Dave Righetti. Now for the mail, I got my card returned unsigned by Rodney Harrison, the envelope looked like it had been outside in the snow or rain, postmarked from Illinois. Now fort he successes. First, ex-Patriots and 49ers TE Russ Francis finally signed a card for me in 255 days from the addy in Harvey 08. Russ was nice enough to enclose a nice note on a index card which he also signed. I have tried to get Russ Francis to sign a card for years, glad to put this one in the success column. Finally, ex-Yankees C Mike Stanley signed 1 card for me in 164 days from the addy in Harvey 08. Next, Dave Winfield returned my check, but did not return my cards. The end of the bad news was Doc Rivers returned my cards unsigned and sent a Celtic postcard with a facsmile signature. Ok, for the good news. Three good successes to report. Ex-NBA great Charles Barkley signed 4 cards for me in 10 months. The only thing is, I had sent to "Chuck" 2 times, one in March of 08 and one so long ago I couldn't find it in my log. He signed all 4 and sent them back in the same envelope. Next, ex-Rangers and Panthers G John Vanbiesbrouck signed 2 cards in 8 months from the addy in Harvey 08. Finally, I have tried to get this player for years, he finally signed for my. Ex-Caps D Larry Murphy signed 1 out of 3 cards(he signed the Caps card but not the Pens or Red Wings cards) he signed in 4 months. That's all for now. GO STEELERS!!! GOD BLESS!!!

01/14/09- The "luck of the Irish" continues, one success to report. Ex-Vikings HOFer Alan Page signed 1 card in 11 days from the addy in Harvey 08, I included a $10 donation to his Foundation. That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!

01/12/09- A good start to the week. Today was a Notre Dame day!!! Three out of four successes were from the Fighting Irish. First, 47 Heisman winner Johnny Lujack signed my card in 13 days from the addy in Harvey 08, next another Johnny, this time Johnny Lattner signed my card in 9 days from the addy in Harvey 08, he also returned the $5 check I had sent. Finally, the last Irish success of the day. Notre Dame's leading all time receiver and the first african-american captain for the Irish Tom Gatewood signed my card and sent a nice note thanking me for writing and wishing me a Happy New Year in 9 days from the addy in Harvey 08. The last success, ex-BYU QB Robbie Bosco signed in 7 days. That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!

01/10/09- Hello everybody, I hope ya'll are doing well. I have a gift, a purchase and 2 successes to report. Also a rts. First the bad news, the rts was from Bjorn Nittmo, it had he does not live here anymore. Does not was underlined several times. My good friend Matt, he always goes to the Chantilly Shows with me was at a signing for LaRon Landry at a local mall. Matt was kind enough to get the above card signed for me. THANKS MATT!!! A friend of mine from SCN Greg told me about Mill Creek Sports. They had a special going until the end of the year on stuff left over from their signings throughout the year, so I purchased a 8x10 of Rickey Henderson of $39.00. It came PSA/DNA certified. Now for the successes, Blackhawks RW Martin Havlat signed 1 card in 457 days c/o Blackhawks. Finally, ex-Bengals TE Bob Trumpy signed 1 card in 27 days from the addy in Harvey 08. The line up fof the Chantilly March show is starting to take form, Willie Davis, Forrest Gregg, Paul Hornung, Bart Starr & Jim Taylor were added to John Elway and Lawrence Taylor and the 3 Steelers LB's, Lamar Woodley, James Farrior and James Harrison, Shaping up to be a good show. 01/03/09- A success, a RTS and 2 pack pulls. First the RTS, Jerry Stackhouse's letter came back RTS, but the good news is it had a new addy on the yellow label so that will go out on Monday. Next, I bought 2 boxes of the TriStar Projections and pulled a autograph from each box. I pulled, Red Sox prospect Will Middlebrooks and the Brewers Micahel Brantley. Now for the success, I can speak for anyone else, but this one surprised me. I had watched a documentary on Kermit Washington, and decided to write him. I checked around and the last success I saw was in 2001. So I wrote my letter added a $5 check and hoped for the best. Today, I received my card back signed in silver sharpie, and a simply note that said "Thank You". Kermit signed in 1 month and 8 days from the addy in Harvey 08. That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!

01/02/09- First success of 2009 is ex-Oklahoma State standout Hart Lee Dykes, he signed 1 card in 27 days from the addy in Harvey 08. That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!

12/31/08- One today. One of my favorite Fighting Irish players. Darius Walker, signed my card in 26 days c/o Texans. I would like to wish everyone a Healthy and Happy New Year. Please be careful and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!! GOD BLESS!!!

12/29/08- One in today, ex-NBA sharp shooter Hersey Hawkins signed 1 card in 10 days from the addy in Harvey 08. I also got one RTS from Marty Schottenheimer. That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!

12/27/08- I hope everyone had a great Christmas, my family and I sure did. Got some catching up to do. First my buddy Dale, sent me a tremendous gift pack. He sent me a hard backed book entitled "Boston Bruins Greatest Moments and Players", it was signed by Pat Burns, Ed Westfall, John Bucyk and Terry O'Reilly. He also included a signed 8x10 of ex-Pirates P Elroy Face and if that wasn't enough he included 10 signed cards. They included: Mike Rozier, Herman Edwards, Craig Morton, Wilbur Jackson, John Hiller, Chris Mohr, Mike Bielecki, Stan Clarke, Heath Shuler and Brad Komminsk!!! Dale THANKS so much for the gifts. You went way above and beyond. Dale and his wife to be are celebrating their 1st Christmas with their beautiful baby daughter Isabella who was 1 month the day after Christmas. Merry Christmas Isabella!!! Now for the mail successes. First, ex-Vikings K Fred Cox signed 2 cards in 10 days from the addy in Harvey 08, next ex-Jets RB Emerson Boozer signed 1 card and wrote a nice thank you note for being a fan. He signed in 6 days from Harvey 08. Ex-Patriots CB Raymond Clayborn signed 1 card in 17 days from the addy in Harvey 08. Finally, ex-Kentucky standout Jamal Mashburn signed my GOTG card and sent a signed 8x10(looks like the marker was drying up) he also included a note apologizing for the delay in signing my card he signed in 9 months and 9 days from the addy in Harvey 08. The March Chantilly Show has added the 3 LB's from the Steelers, James Harrison, James Farrior and Lamar Woodley!!! That will definetly bring out STEELER NATION!!! That's all for now. GOD BLESS!!!
