The Hereford Volunteer Junior Fire Company was founded in 2001 by the Hereford Volunteer Fire Company in order to better prepare and recruit future members to serve the community. Junior members are taught Respect, Responsibility and most important Teamwork. Members attend trainings every first and third monday of the month at 6:30 and attend meetings every second and fourth monday at 6:30 to discuss fundraising ideas, upcoming events, etc. Training activities in the past have included the following, Rope rescue and repelling exercises, Vehicle Extrication, First Aid/CPR instruction, Hose testing, Proper ladder usage, SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) Operation, Search and Rescue, Practice on getting turnout gear on in the fastest way, plus many more exciting and fun activites. The HVJFC is also another great way to earn community service hours. Members must be between the ages of 13 and 16.
