JOIN THE DEMOCRAT GROUP ON YAHOO

Join the Garrett County Democrats Group on Yahoo. This group is not related to the county party or club, and is just a place for you to let your opinions know on issues that matter to you. I'm having some difficulty with the moderating/posting feature.
Although I previously had to accept new posts before they're posted, I changed the controls, but for some reason it still requires posts to be approved by the moderator. Please bear with me, until I can get that figured out.
You can check out our group and join in on the discussions at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/garrettcountydemocrats/
All you need is a Free yahoo ID to join.

Fight for a Fair Minimum Wage

Contact your Representatives and Senators
Being a tourist attraction, most of Garrett County's jobs are retail and other service jobs. Most of these positions pay minimum wage or only slightly more than that.
There has been a bill sponsored by Democrats, including Maryland senior Senator Paul Sarbanes, which would raise the wage. The only problem is this bill has been stalled for almost two years by Republicans in both houses of Congress.
With the recently passed irresponsible tax cut, business owners should see an increase in profits. Its not too much to ask that the business owners use a small amount of that increased profit to pay thier employees a couple of bucks more.
Therefore on Monday, June 2 I am organizing a Contact your Congress People Day. Let your represntatives and senators in Congress know that they need to quit stalling and pass a Minimum Wage increase, with guaranteed increases every year or so.

MSNBC Poll: Shrub's approval at 27%

A recent MSNBC Internet poll shows President Bush's Approval Rating at 27%. Most national polls have Mr. Bush in the 60-70 percent range. While probably Shrubs rating is higher than 27%, it does show that Mr. Bush does not have the whole country on his side, and that he can be easily defeated in 2004--if the American People show at the polls Here is a link to the MSNBC poll: http://www.msnbc.com/news/916685.asp#survey

2004 Presidential Race

Nine candidates, so far, has filed for the Democratic Party Nomination for President of the United States
Any of the nine Democrats will make a better president than George W. Bush, but its important to make an informed decision in the Primary Election, which is now less than 10 months away in Maryland. Please visit the websites of the candidates, listed below in the links section.
It is also important to view the web pages, as some of the candidates, such as Carol Moseley-Braun (D-Calif.) and Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) are recieving little attention in the national media.
It is important to view the information on all of the candidates and make an informed decision on Election Day.
