The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal brotherhood of Catholic men dedicated to service to their Parish, their community, and their fellow brothers. Our Council generally draws its members from the Parishes of Mt. Carmel, St. Clare, and Queen of Peace. As Knights we are dedicated to the ideals of Columbianism: CHARITY, UNITY, FRATERNITY, and PATRIOTISM.
Any practical Catholic man in good standing with the Holy See over the age of 18. A practical Catholic is a man who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
Our Council meets for business the first Tuesday of each month. The third Tuesday is a Social/Business Meeting. Our officers hold an Officers' Meeting on the fourth Tuesday.
Our Council holds all meetings at its Council Home Hall located at 1707 Eastern Blvd., in Essex. The Hall adjoins the property of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
The Council engages in several community based activities. We sponsor a Boy Scout Troop and host a weekly Bingo Game open to the public. We have a Seniors' Group which meets here regularly. The Council members volunteer help at Fund-Raisers organized and put on by the various Parish Activities Groups. We assist the Gabrielle Project, raise money to donate to various local community charities, and even host a Youth Bowl Sports Day which is open to all of the area's young athletes.

V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
R. And she conceived of the Holy Ghost. ("Hail Mary" Prayer)
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R. Be it done unto me according to thy word. ("Hail Mary" Prayer)
V. And the word was made flesh.
R. And dwelt among us. ("Hail Mary" Prayer)
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
V. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Dominic, "One Day through the Rosary and Scapular I will save the World."
"Whosoever dies clothed in this (scapular) shall not suffer eternal fire."
This is Mary's Promise made July 16, 1251 to Saint Simon Stock.
The devils revealed to Francis of Yepes, the brother of St. John of the Cross, that three things especially tormented them. The first is the Name of Jesus; the second, the Name of Mary, and the third, the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. "Take off that habit, "they cried to him, "which snatches so many souls from us. All those clothed in it die piously and escape us."
In October of 1920, Our Lord told Berthe Petit of how exalted His Mother's Sorrowful Immaculate Heart was, saying:
"The title Immaculate belongs to the whole being of My Mother, and not specifically to her Heart . . this title flows from My . . . gift to the Virgin who has given Me birth. However, My Mother has acquired for her Heart the title, Sorrowful by sharing . . . all the sufferings of My Heart and My Body, from the crib to the Cross . . .The title of Sorrowful is most dear of all to Me . .
