Voting Booth

On this page, you can vote for issues that could conceivably come before a local legislative body in your area.

In an official system, you would be entering your voter ID and a password before you would be allowed to vote.

As on this page, summaries of the key arguments raised by voters could be presented so you might be able to make well-informed decisions. Once you've voted, you would be invited to share arguments not mentioned in the bill analysis.

Athens Project candidates' votes would then be cast to match the majority decision.

Summary of Bill Analysis:

A YES vote would increase library hours on Thursday and Friday. Currently, the library system is only open until 5 pm for a majority of the week. This discourages library use by the general public for media, computer, study area, and meeting room use. Civic activities are curtailed by the current schedule due to meeting room constraints. The county's tradition of education encouragement is inconsistent with this schedule. Costs might be offset by reducing morning hours on some days.

A NO vote preserves the funds additional library hours would cost. Librarians may find night hours less convenient and staffing may become difficult. Other solutions such as staggering the early closings through the week could avoid the four consecutive day objection at little or no cost.
