
The Zeta Omega Sigma Chapter of SGR was founded March 6, 1988 to service members of the Sorority residing in Baltimore County, MD. The ten charter members were: Sandre Mitchell, Kay Merrill, Sheila Ferrell, Thelma Thompson, Lois Whitaker, Cherie Conor, Doris Cross, Bernette Jones, Dr. Hattie Washington, and Valerie Dada. Since its inception ZOS has assumed leadership roles and helped to shape sorority history. Utilizing their various backgrounds and skills the Sorors of ZOS strive to the ultimate Sigma Goal of promoting education and improving the community in which they live.

Zeta Omega Sigma is also very active in introducing young women to the work and vision of Sigma Gamma Rho by advising two Undergraduate Chapters. Lambda Alpha Chapter at Millersville University was chartered April 23, 1988. Lambda Phi, the undergraduate chapter at UMBC, was founded April 28, 1990.
