Biography

Chris Joannou (joe-an-you) has earned himself the reputation as the quiet one of the three members of Silverchair. He claims his vocal chords only allow him two hours of talking . . . right on Chris.

He grew up, and still lives, in a house in New Castle, Aussie, with a brick garage on the same street as Ben. He's lived there since he was two. His childhood was relatively boring and his family is relatively average. He has a Mum (Sue), a Dad (David), and two sisters (Louise, his twin and another older sister). He has two dogs, a German Shepard named Kahn, and a new pug, name unknown.

A story I have heard often about Chris involves crayons. Apparently the three guys (Ben, Daniel, and Chris) were little, and Ben and Daniel told Chris that an orange piece of crayon was cheese. Chris actually ate the damn thing! Awwe!

But Chris has grown up since then. He is a mostly self-taught bassist, with help from Ben and some "nameless" guy. To this day, he is still a shy, quiet bassist who's greatly influenced by KoRn.

As for his hair . . . well, it used to be long but he shaved it all off to "anti-the-metal-look." So to speak.

He says tha the does write music and lyrics but none of his material has ever gotten put on any albums because Ben and Daniel do not consider it "Silverchair material."

Though quiet and unimpressive at sight, Chris is an important part of Silverchair. What would Anthem For the Year 2000 be without Chris's impressively simple yet necessary bass line? What is Israel's Son without the pounding . . . you get the point.

As for some fun, but useless facts, Chris is a Scorpio, used to play the trumpet, used to wear glasses, and has a pet rock for luck. He also loves cars and says that if he weren't in the band he's probably be a mechanic. There's a story about how one time a tour bus tire popped, and they would've been stranded, but Chris saved the day. ^_^ How nice.

That is all I have to say about Christopher John Joannou's life.
