Bosco & Chakotay
Bosco and Chakotay are two husky mix brothers. They were born approximately 10-14-01. At four weeks of age they were taken from their mother. At five weeks of age their new owners decided they did not want the puppies in their house any longer and could not afford to feed them, so set them loose in the neighborhood. Somehow these two boys survived an entire week fending for themselves.
They were found on December 1st, 2001 eating greasy paper towels out of a trash bag. Their "owners" were tracked down and the puppies were turned over.
It was expected that these two wonderful little dogs would be adopted as soon as they were old enough, but somehow no one was interested. We would love to see these two boys adopted together, since they are SO bonded, but homes with other dogs would be considered. They love to play together, where one goes, the other follows. They sleep together and love to chase each other all over the place.
They are now almost three years old. They have remained on the small-medium size, Bosco weighing in at 45 and Chakotay at around 50.
Bosco and Chakotay are very intelligent, but because they are being fostered in a home with so many other animals, thier training as been neglected. They have the concept of house training, but because they don’t spend much time loose in the house, they will require a bit more effort before they are fully housetrained. They are completely crate trained. They tend to be a little stubborn when they would rather play than listen. They love everyone, though they may be a bit too rambunctious for young children.
Bosco is much shyer than Chakotay, taking longer to be completely comfortable with new people, but he is also very sweet and affectionate, liking nothing more than to climb into your lap and have his belly rubbed.
Chakotay is very bold and outgoing. He loves to run and play and roughhouse. He tends to be a bit of a trouble-maker, getting into everything he shouldn't and gleefully running off, trying to entice you into a good chase. He is incredibly inquisitive. He is also the more stubborn of the two. He is very affectionate, quick to flip on his back for some petting and belly rubs.
Both of them like other dogs and get along well with cats, Bosco especially likes to play with the foster cat here. Both the dogs have learned to be respectful towards the cats, but sometimes forget which cat likes to play and which doesn’t! They are very good in the car and adore thier "Wiggly Giggly" toy.
They have received all their vaccinations and have been wormed. They are on heartworm preventative. They will be neutered upon adoption.
