Vague Shadows

Emerging from a dark corner of the desolate street,
was the pitter-patter of hesitant feet.
A homeless child named Tommy, alone, dirty and scared,
while shivering just looked at the sky with empty stare.
Through his young mind flowed questions of "why?,
why did my mommy and daddy have to die?"
With his lonely heart he asked the Lord to give him hope,
from the life of rotten food and black top beds, with which he had to cope.
He took the hand of his only friend, his shadow he called Jim,
no matter where he went, he faithfully stayed with him.
He talked with Jim sharing his better days,
the life of enjoying his parents that were now only memories haze.
One day as he played shadow boxing with Jim, something occurred,
A gentleman in white came to him not saying a word.
He just took Tommy by the hand and led him to a certain place,
Tommy was not in the least frightened for love shone through the strangers face.
The gentleman took him to a beautiful lake, where a lonely swan
was drifting on the water amongst the glimmer of dawn.
The gentleman spoke and said, "This swan resembles you,
for he drifts hoping of a love, priceless and true.
And soon enough he will surely find,
the comfort and peace he's long needed in heart and mind.
" Just as he said this another swan sailed in from above,
and joined the other as they nestled in love.
"Tommy, I've been sent by your Father in heavens glory,
to give you life and hope for your lonesome story".
The gentleman touched Tommy's eyes blocking the light,
as Tommy opened them he awoke with another sight.
He was in a warm home decorated so cheerful,
the new found emotions he felt were so beautiful.
"Tommy", a voice called, "Come here please my son",
he curiously followed the peaceful beckon.
As he turned the corner and stood before a door,
he creeped it open and noticed a lovely woman sitting on the floor.
"Good morning Tommy, did you have sweet dreams?"
At that moment his eyes unleashed joyous streams.
His mother sat right there before him with open arms and a smile,
the sight of her caused him to feel disbelief and denial.
As he fell into her arms, he knew this was real,
the caress caused his pain of loneliness to heal.
You see young Tommy died while homeless on the street,
and the Angel of Death raised him to his feet.
And took him away to a land warm and bright,
as this is heavens land shinning endlessly with God's light.
No more would he have to dwell in the world's lonely gallows,
for there is a precious, peaceful life beyond the vague shadows.
