Splinters, thorns, and nails,
blood, sweat, and tears.
Bruised, smitten, and
afflicted,
as they cursed, spit, and
jeered.
Jesus, the Son of God,
nailed upon that tree.
At the place of the skull,
Golgotha,
tortured for you and for
me.
While they mocked and taunted,
the innocent, Faithful and
True,
He said, "Father
forgive them,
for they know not what
they do."
All for our wretched sins,
for our filth, hate, and
pride.
The God-man, Jesus Christ,
battered, forsaken, and
crucified.
Compassion at it's finest,
sweet mercy undeserved.
Grace beyond conception,
perpetual love preserved.
So just sit back and ponder,
go ahead, give it a try.
Meditate on this infinite
Creator,
who came to earth for you,
to die.
All that you might have life,
precious abundance from
above.
For I myself have found,
never, no greater love.
"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he
laid down his life
for us: and we ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren."
I John 3:16
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life
for his friends. Ye are my
friends, if ye do whatsoever I
command you." John 15:13-14
"And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the
Spirit, seen of angels,
preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world,
received up into
glory." I Timothy 3:16
•For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God
sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved."
John 3:16
