Beyond the Past

Today is victory from the once defeated,
from the old of living in sins repeated.
Pressing forward by night and by day,
I take the hand of Christ as he leads my way.
Through the darkness I have His shinning light,
leaving behind the wrong and striving towards the right.
Of the old I am no more,
but of the new with greater days in store.
My chains have been melted down,
from wicked ways I am no longer bound.
Jesus has pulled me from muck and mire,
freeing me from the destination of hell's fire.
He has set my feet upon solid ground,
I once was lost but now I'm found.
The past may taunt me with its pain,
but I will see God's healing rain.
I won't look back on the sin I've done,
for I've been forgiven by God's only Son.
Jesus has given me new life and vision,
only because I follow Him by my own decision.
It's up to you, Christ's gift is free,
trust Him as Savior and you will see.
He is alive, forevermore to be,
the almighty God of all eternity.
The Alpha and Omega, the first and last,
reach for His hand and move beyond the past.

II Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold all things become new.
