My name is Jeff. On April 6, 1998 the pickup truck I was driving crossed the centerline of MD Rt. 140 and struck a minivan carrying 5 people and travelling in the opposite direction. The driver, a husband and father of two young boys, was pronounced dead at the scene. Only Christ can ease the monstrous burden of guilt my tragic mistake has left me with. Formerly I spent my days at the Western Correctional Institute serving a 10-year sentence for vehicular manslaughter, my time was devoted to reading God's word, prayer, and the writing of poetry, which I have the opportunity to share with you here. With a humble, sober spirit I ask you to enjoy the works from my pen, and pray that somehow these poems may bless you in your walk with the Lord. I was released on May 5, 2002, alsmost 7 years early, by the grace of my Lord and the beautiful forgiveness of His creation Mary, the wife of the man who perished in the tragic accident. God's grace & mercy leaves me amazed and I pray He continues to use these writings inspired through His chastening hand in your life. I spent pratically 40 months in prison, I look at it as my time in the wilderness being tested of our adversary the devil. And as Jesus, God's only Son spent 40 days in the wilderness I too have been changed from that trial. And as God cleansed the earth of evil men during the 40 month flood, God too cleansed my wayward heart and mind into a new way of life. A newness I have never known and still am yet amazed at His soveriegn hand.
