All His Heart

Jacqueline’s Junque

Only a piece was not enough
I wanted all his heart.
Not satisfied with part of him
I asked for all from the start.

I never wanted to hurt him,
Or have to listen to him cry.
I could not live with the deceit,
And needed to say good-bye.

We had shared so much laughter,
Mixed with all his intense pain.
I tried to bring warm sunshine
To his heart so full of rain.

But as time slipped by in sorrow
I slowly came to realize,
He wasnt the man I thought he was
I could see it with my eyes.

Love not built on honesty,
Close friendship or endless trust,
Cannot last long... its fleeting
Like momentary lust.

He knew just what I wanted
How I needed so much more.
Yet part of me still loved him,
Of that you can be sure.

Sometimes late into the night
I can still hear his loving voice.
As he cried wanting to hold on,
But for me there was no choice.

I think about him at times
Since we have been apart.
Please believe I tried to return
All I took of his heart.
