Communication

The faculty and staff encourages communication between school and home. We encorage parents to follow their child's progress by daily discussion with their child concerning their activities in school and their homework for the evening.

Each student will have a Weekly Folder that will come home on Fridays or the last day of the week. There will be a sheet attached that parents are required to sign each week. The folders are to be returned every Monday. Unless there is an emergency, no notices or papers (other than those for homework) will go home on any other day. The folder will include work completed, as well as all Association and\or flyers form various agencies. Information from the administration will be copied on green paper, lunch menus or notices from the office will be in lilac, Home-School information will be in blue. This will help families tell in a glance what has been sent. The monthly calender of events is sent home at the beginning of each month and the lunch menu is printed every 10 days to 2 weeks.

A yearly conference is held in November at the end of the first marking period. Attendance at this conference is mandatory; report cards will be given and discussed at this time. All subsequent report cards are mailed. At other times, conferences may be arranged by calling the teacher at school or sending in a note. Teachers will schedule a conference as soon as possible but not during instructional time. We ask that parents not plan on conferencing with a teacher immediately before or after school as these are planning times for teachers. Please do not call the teacher at home unless they have specifically stated that you may do so.

If you do have a concern, we ask that you follow this procedure:

  • Contact the teacher and directly and discuss the matter either in person, by phone or by letter. Teachers may also request a discussion with the parent in the same manner.
  • If the matter is not resolved, the parent and/or teacher requests a meeting with the principal. This may be either a joint or private conference at which time an alternate course of action is planned.
  • If the problem still exists following steps 1 and 2, the administrator will be notified and will call a meeting with all parties.
THE ADMINISTRATOR, SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD AND HOME-SCHOOL ASSOCIATION WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY ANONYMOUS LETTERS OR PHONE CALLS.
