The next few weeks, Brian and Kevin tried their best to keep my mind off Andrew. Most of the time it helped. But when I wasn't with either Brian or Kevin, that's when I thought about Andrew. That was mostly during the night, and it kept me from sleeping a lot of the time.
Brian and I had choir rehearsals every day. We were practicing for a concert, and I had a solo in it. I was so excited and nervous at the same time.
I was in my dorm the night of the concert getting ready. My roommate went out with her boyfriend for the night, so I was there alone. Brian was going to pick me up and we were going to go to the concert hall together. Him and Kevin still didn't want me to be alone a lot of the time.
I heard a knock on my door. It was too early for Brian to be here, so I had no idea who it was. I opened the door and was shocked when I saw who it was.
A little while later, Brian came to Amanda's dorm room. He saw a note on the door that said, "Brian, I had to pick up a last minute accessory. I'll meet you at the concert hall. Amanda." Of course he didn't assume anything was wrong, so he just left and went off to the concert hall.
When he arrived there, he went backstage to see if Amanda was there yet. But he couldn't find her anywhere. Brian got on his robe and prepared for the performance.
It was almost time for the performance, and Brian was getting worried that Amanda hadn't arrived yet.
"Brian, where's Amanda?" asked their instructor, Mr. Smith.
"I don't know, sir. She said she had to pick something up and she would meet me here. But it shouldn't have taken her this long."
"Well find out. It's going to be hard to do the show without her." Mr. Smith walked away.
"Brian, what's going on?" Kevin said walking up behind Brian.
"Amanda's missing," he responded.
"What? I thought you and her came together."
"She left me a note on her dorm door saying that she had to pick something up and she would meet me here. But she hasn't come yet, and it shouldn't have taken her this long."
"Dammit! Where can she be?"
"I don't know, Kevin. But I'm getting worried. And she's gotta be in the show."
"I'll go drive around and look for her."
"Hurry."
"I will." Kevin left and went to his car. First he drove to Amanda's dorm to see about the note and to see if she was there. He read the note, and it said the same thing that Brian had said. Kevin knocked on Amanda's door, but no one answered. He got out his keys and opened the door. She gave him a key, just in case of an emergency. He went in but didn't see anything out of place, and he couldn't find her.
Next he went to Brian's dorm to see if Amanda was there. Brian's roommate, Matt, answered the door.
"Hey, Kevin," said Matt, as he opened the door.
"Is Amanda here?" Kevin asked.
"No."
"Has she been here?"
"Not tonight."
"Ok, thanks."
"Why?"
"I gotta go, I can't talk about it right now." Kevin left and drove to his apartment. He thought that Amanda might have gone there. But she wasn't there either. Kevin was seriously worried now. He didn't know where else Amanda could be.
