Why The Name "Redeeming Oil"?
"Redeeming"
The dictionary defines redeem as “to buy back; to get or win back; free from captivity usually by paying a ransom; to liberate. If we apply the definition then we will see that redeeming means to liberate and “get back” those who have heard God’s voice. We seek to liberate the bondage of generational thinking, unspoken frustrations and many other hindrances towards a person’s growth. Our purpose is not to ask “if” someone will accept God’s call, but “when”. We strongly believe that each person who enters the doors will reach a deeper understanding of Kingdom principles and summarily pursue the steps towards complete purpose. We believe is walking “with” the person to wholeness, not walk the path “for” them. This means that we will be with them to help them to discover their purpose but we will not interfere in anything that God is doing in their lives. It is important that each person go through the steps towards purpose so that they can learn from the successes and the mistakes. We were trained under the premise that “it is alright to make mistakes” therefore, we strive to instill the same principles into those who enter our doors.
"Oil"
Historically, oil has been used for restoration; not only for furniture but for materials as well. In Biblical times, oil was used to keep the flames lit inside the Tabernacle. It was also used to anoint the heads of priests and kings. Not only is it symbolic of greatness, it is also a symbol of rebuilding. When something is restored, it means that the item was already very valuable; so much that someone thought it important to restore it back to its proper condition. When I look at how this applies to this ministry, I understand that those who will enter the doors are those who already know God but have not chosen His path. From the basic definition or redeem, it is obvious that you can only redeem something that was previously within your possession. We believe that these people once shared a joyous relationship with God but have ventured down another path.
If you put the two words together you will see our purpose. “Redeeming” means bringing back and liberating; “Oil” is the restoration (Galatians 4:4-7). Once you put the two words together, the name, Redeeming Oil, means to liberate and restore. |
