Introduction

The life of Joseph is an example of success, courage, trust and the disciplined desire to honor God's principles of honesty, patience and loyalty.  These are ideals to which all of us aspire.   Joseph lived them all!

His story is tragic yet enthralling, charged with emotion and power.  Here is a story of painful forgiveness and controlled triumph.  Triumph over adversity by a positive, unwavering spirit.

Joseph was successful because God was with him.  God was with him because Joseph believed that God was the orchestrator of his destiny and no matter what occurred he was willing to trust and wait.

The epoch story of Joseph, what he went through and what he became, has been an inspiration to mankind for thousands of years.   For today his life remains an awesome contemporary challenge for any young, energy-driven Christian who wants to be all that he or she can be through Jesus Christ and the Christian way of life.

Special Report
by Peter Lim, Director

The two evenings of concerts played by The Singing Ambassadors  of Cam Floria's "DREAMER" on 14 and 15 November 1997 had to be really something! This musical has to be The Singing Ambassadors' most successful musical to date because well over 5,000 people attended it!  After eleven months of sheer perseverance and hard work, the group presented an almost flawless professional production over those two evenings at Menara PGRM at Cheras

"DREAMER" was written over 20 years ago and had a "facelift" by Cam Floria a few years ago. The story talks about the life of Joseph as described in the book of Genesis from chapters 37 - 41 in the Bible. What procrastinated our attempt in producing it locally was due to the absence of a suitable male lead for the role of "Joseph" and enough men to play his eleven brothers. That is, until 2 years ago after our last project called "THE BIG PICTURE" and having traveled to Perth, Australia on two missions tours consecutively in 1994 and 1995, we decided to evaluate and assess our ministry and discovered that we needed to do something more challenging and produce a worthy sequel to that musical. There were many Ambassadors who had been faithful and stayed on even after getting married and had children of their own. We felt that the ministry had matured to a certain level and was ready for "bigger" things, and thus "DREAMER".

We are thankful to God for providing many people who worked behind the scenes to help us. Prayer warriors, ushers, counselors and security personnel were recruited from the Canaan, Cheras and Grace Baptist Churches as well as from our own church. Many backstage helpers were also sought at the eleventh hour to assist us in props, makeup and costume changing. The most unique recruitment however, was through the Internet when a visitor to The Singing Ambassadors' homepage became our graphic artist for the dream effects for one of the songs in the musical!   Our gratitude also goes to the people who placed us in the public eye through publicity in the newspapers and even "Time Highway Radio", a popular local radio station. We believe that this is the first time that a Christian concert has been publicized over radio! Of course, we also want to thank our Pastor John Kok for the immense and untiring support that he lent to this project. And to all the wonderful people who aided us, our everlasting gratitude to you!

We are grateful to God for sustaining our ministry last year. It had been very challenging for most of us who began to have families of our own. Apart from coming back to the numerous rehearsals, we took a break in July to attend the 5th Asian Baptist Congress in Taiwan and to also participate in an international choral contest. The experiences we gained from that week in Taiwan proved to be very rewarding for the ones that attended and also paved the way for future ministries in Asia.

We look forward to the new year in keen anticipation that God will continue to use The Singing Ambassadors to "minister in music and drama to reach the world". We welcome any one of you who may want to join us in this exciting ministry and lead a fruitful life for the Lord. We look forward to seeing you at our rehearsals soon.
