And welcome to the 2000/2001 St. Patrick's Society of Selangor website.
First
of all, thank you for electing me as President of
the Society. Thank you even more for electing the Committee who
I've been given the privilege of leading for the next year – the
President gets to attend all the posh do's, but it’s the Committee that
puts all the work into making the Society's events happen. Together I've
no doubt that we will achieve at least the same level of activity in the
Society as have the string of eminent Presidents whom I succeed.
We
are in the fortunate position of already having our calendar of events for the
coming year fully organised and the traditional favorites like the Children's
and the Adults Christmas Parties, Darts Competition, Quiz Night, Charity Night,
Family Fun Day, Mid-Summer Hooley, etc are all on the 2000 / 2001 Programme.
Members can look forward to having at least one event every month. Why not visit
our "What's On" page on the website so that you don't forget any of
the dates. The venues for the various events will be advertised closer to the
dates of the events.
Three
cheers and our sincere thanks to Terry Challenor
and Guinness Anchor for giving the Society use
of the "Tavern" at the brewery for a number of these events. Those
who recall the very popular Pub Nights of two years ago will be pleased to know
that young Terry Snadden is back in KL and Mother Malone's in Ampang will host a
number of Pub Nights in the coming year.
Work
on the St Patrick's Ball is well underway and it will be held in the Shangri La
Hotel on Saturday 17 March with a band from Ireland and our fantastic young
Irish Dancers. Let's wait and see who will make it to Sepang the following day
for the 2001 Malaysian Grand Prix!
Thanks
to the Newsletter team for asking, cajoling and downright hassling the various
contributors to get published on time, and to our international webmaster Mike
Dowling, who continues to hassle us from a far.
Finally,
thank you Mary for our wonderful son Oisin, a "budder" for Neasa.
