- 1872 - First major league team in Baltimore was The Lord Baltimores of the National Association. - 1901-1902 - First American League Team which moved to New York in 1903 and later became the Yankees. - 1954 - Baseball returns with the transfer of the St.Louis Brown francise and named changed to the Baltimore Orioles.Hired Paul Richards as first manager. - 1964 - Hired Hank Bauer as manager. - 1966 - Won first American League Pennant and swept the Dodgers in World Series to take first championship. - 1968 - Hired Earl Weaver to manage team in mid-season and he led club to six division titles and two World Series Championships. - 1983 - Joe Altobelli becomes manager and team wins third Worl Series Championship. - 1985-1986 - Earl Weaver returns as manager but team fails to make playoffs. - 1988 - Frank Robinson takes over as manager early in season and in 1989 had the team in contention til knocked out at the end by the Blue Jays. - 1989 - Frank Robinson named Manager of the Year. - 1991 - Johnny Oates becomes manager in May of that year. - 1993 - Team file bankruptcy and is purchased by a group headed by Peter Angelos. - 1995 - Cal Ripken Jr. breaks Gehrigs consecutive games played record. - 1997 - Davey Johnson becomes manager and team makes the playoffs after staying in first place from wire to wire,however,they fell short in the playoffs. - 1998 - Due to problems between Johnson and the owner Angelos,Davey leaves and Ray Miller is named manager.
