Last Will and Testament of Jacob Caple

In the name of God Amen:

          I, Jacob Caple of Carroll County in the State of Maryland, being feable in body and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say:
     First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid to. I devise and bequeath as follows:
     Unto my dear wife Sarah Caple all my Estate both real and personal + all my plantations whereon I now dwell Lying in Carroll County State of Maryland, caled [?] containing one hundred and fifty seven acres more or less to her the said Sarah Caple + and at her death the said property to be sold and conveyed by my Executrix and all the proceeds of sale to be equally divided between my said children part and part alike. Susan Wheeler, Ellen Wood, Rachel Gaither, Caroline Philips, Sharlotte Gore, Jacob Caple, Mary Ann Caple, Robert Caple, Elizabeth Gaither, Margaret Gore, Mordica Caple.
     And lastly, I do hereby consitute and appoint my son Robert Caple to be sole Executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annuling all former wills by me heretofore made. Ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament.
     In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and fifty eight.

     Signed, Sealed, published and declared by Jacob Caple, the above named Testator, as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness thereto.
