Nicole "Nicci" Knauss

As the internet is ever evolving, growing and changing, so to is this website. Sadly it has been neglected for many years while I had a job that I loved which consumed all of my free time. Now that I am no longer with that organization and am moving on to the next chapter in my life, it is more then time that this site gets revamped so check back in and see what is new on this site and at my seamstress website (see link below). Hopefully soon I will also have an etsy site so that I can start selling the items I create.

I have had this website since I my freshman year of college (September 1997). As you can imagine this site has seen a lot of changes since that time from that of a blog type site before blogs ever existed. *GASP* Yes there was a time before blogs. This site is an opportunity to see a more relaxed me. It is my hope that you will come and visit all my sites as many times as your heart so desires...

My last big announcement on this site was that my husband (Branden) and I moved from Washington, DC area to Chattanooga, TN. Shortly after moving, I lost my grandmother and decided it was time to have more permanent work to take my mind off of my loss.

In July 2006 I became the Executive Director of the Chattanooga Girls Choir. In 2009, I lost my other grandmother while my dad was hospitalized. While I loved the organization and the girls involved, I lost sight of the reason for our move. Branden and I wanted to start a family and I wanted to be more available to help my mom and dad.

In 2011, we lost my father. Just days before loosing my father I had decided to leave my job. Loss can make you do many things including burying yourself in a job you planned on leaving and other projects. It can even cause you to step away from what you really want to do. Later in 2011, Branden and I decided to rededicate ourselves to the objective of starting a family.

Each decision we make takes us down a different road then what we were on. For me this road has meant leaving the Chattanooga Girls Choir. I am currently working as a free lance seamstress and artist while undergoing several medical procedures. At the same time, Branden and I are becoming certified to be foster care parents. We are as excited as expecting parents and we hope our love and patience will help provide an environment where children can heal.

What will the next chapter of my life hold? Only time will tell.

Nicole Knauss Artistic Profile:

Nicole Knauss, a Maryland native with family ties to Chattanooga, has had the great pleasure of being immersed in the Arts since an early age. She is a BSS degree recipient from Cornell College with a major in Art and concentrations in Art History and Business. In 2006, Nicole completed an Arts Management Certification through University of Massachusetts (on-line). While Nicole does not yet have a Masters Degree in Arts Management, she has over 6 plus years experience as the Executive Director of the Chattanooga Girls Choir. Nicole has a theatrical background and misses working as the Producer for a children’s theatre in Arlington, VA. Among her many hobbies and career choices Nicole is a free-lance artist and seamstress.

Everyone has a motto that they try to live by or use as inspiration. The one I have found to be the most inspiring to me comes from the great playwright, William Shakespeare. While I may not be a fan of the character Polonius I find his words to be prophetic. "This above all: to thy own self be true......."
