Disclaimer Page

Information for these pages is provided to the Page Administrator, a volunteer, by volunteers. There is no guarantee for accuracy and no promise of updating. We can not provide information from all angles. I provide no guarantees for the accuracy, timeliness or organization of any material on this site. Keep in mind I can only post what information I receive within a reasonable lead time.

Readership

These pages are intended only to provide general information about Pack 663 and provide some links to related information. It is not easy to provide information to the right audience. We might want tell some good crafts to the boys. We might talk about educational value to parents. We might disclose organizational structure to fellow leaders. The general public probably prefers an introduction to what Scouting is all about.

In a book store the solution is simple: There are lots of books and people buy the book with the right viewpoint. However, here on the internet it is more complex: Cross-referencing is the name of the game. But to label all pointers correctly makes the text about as readable as a law book. Also, we are a small number of volunteers who cannot possibly provide information from all angles.

All of this information is secondary. We run our unit for the children who are there physically. The internet is not the primary media for scouting. The internet is a nice supplement, but only a supplement.

Security

We would like to have free and open communication among Scouters, Scouts, and parents. Unfortunately, it is easy for blind trust to be extended, and then abused, in such a wide open media as the internet. I, therefore limit contact to annonymous E-mail and and impose a few rules to protect our Scouts and our leaders.
  • No private home addresses will be listed, or given out in any media.
  • No private home phone numbers, as above.
  • No E-mail links to anyone except the Scoutmaster.
  • First Name and Last Name Initial ONLY will be used for all boys.
  • No full names of people whose name wouldn't also appear in a council newsletter.

Home phone numbers could be disclosed on a case-by-case basis after careful E-mail exchange.

Accuracy

Please assume that all the standard disclaimers are valid here, too. The Pack 663 pages do not necessarily represent the views or policies of the employer(s) of any of the contributors, the owner of the Web site, any of the Scouts or adults of Pack 663, the Baltimore Area Council, the Boy Scouts of America, or American Legion Post #276.

This page has been inspired by the work of Chris Jacobi and his Pack 6 Web Site. Thank you Chris, for providing a fine example. There is also an official, but somewhat old BSA disclaimer.
