Alonzo

About the Character-
Alonzo is considered by some to be Third-In-Command of the Jellicle Tribe. Although it is not apparent in the Video, he is very watchful and protective of the Tribe. He does not have a tremendous part in the Musical, but in most productions of CATS, he fights Macavity. In most productions, it is also Alonzo, not Munkustrap, who falls in love with Demeter. Alonzo has two costumes, depending on the production. In the Video and in London, Alonzo’s costume is black and white. In other productions, he has a brown costume. He is of medium-tall height, with a medium build. Alonzo is about the equivalent of 25 human years. His age is fairly undefined, because of how small his role is.

About the Actor-
The actor who plays Alonzo should be fairly experienced in dancing. Alonzo only has a few solo lines, so the part does not require a tremendous voice. The only trick to playing Alonzo is the fighting sequence. The sequence is very dangerous for the actor, who could fall wrong and hurt himself.
