KUPA

KUPA

Sharing, responsibility, Cooperation, Canteen

Moshava, and all Habonim Dror camps, operate on a system of sharing called KUPA. More than any other element of the program, KUPA represents our entire outlook on camp. We share buildings we use, the food we eat in the Chader HaOchel(dining hall), an the very ground we walk on at Moshava, so we MUST be able to cooperate and help one another. Beyond that, we share experiences together-successes and failures. And because each person at Moshava has a share in the camp, we also share the responsibility for its upkeep, for the work that needs to be done, for the smooth funcioning of our summer community. And, of course, we all share in the fun!!

$25 per four-week session from campers' tuition is put into the KUPA fund. A part of this fund is used to establish a central canteen from which campers can draw small personal necessities such as toiletries, stationary, etc. The KUPA can also be use for special treats as decided by campers. Occasionally, special activities beyong the regularly planned program may be funded in part by KUPA.

Every Habonim Dror camp has this system of KUPA in accordance with the Habonim Dror ideology and policy. All campers should be prepared and willing to participate in such a system when they come to camp. It is a system whereby we practice the art of ving together under the principles of cooperation, friendship, and equality. While KUPA is a 'given' at Moshava, the administration of KUPA is democratically run by the campers themselves, and decisions regarding the use of KUPA funds are made by them rough their representatives on specially elected commities.

At the begining of each session we spend a great deal of time explaining and working out the details of the KUPA amoung all the chanachim(campers) and madrachim(counselors), but a basic understanding of the above principles before camp will help new campers understand and adjust to KUPA at camp.
