John Tillery & Living Sacrifice, an anointed group of young people from the Nation's Capital City Washington, DC. One of gospel music's newest sensations, the group has been compared to the likes of Kirk Franklin & The Family and Fred Hammond and Radicals For Christ. With an urban-gospel sound, that stirs up the soul, the group combines traditonal and contemporary styles to reach all ages.

This group has been together for over ten years. Formed in 1989 on the campus of Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD to give the African-American students a musical experience they could relate to. As a student at CUC, I was blessed with the opportunity to work with several artists and the Lord laid it upon my heart to start my own group. It was hard at first but God has really openned doors for us.

The group has been blessed with the opportunity to sing and travel with some of gospel music's finest: Min. Keith Pringle, Albertina Walker, Dorothy Norwood, Richard Smallwood, Ron Winans, Dottie Jones, Rev. Milton Bigham, Martha Walsh, Twinkie Clark, and many others. The Choir has also shared the same stage with a list of who's who in gospel music: The Mississippi Mass Choir, Yolanda Adams, Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, The Williams Brothers, Rev. James Moore, The Pace Sisters, Wilmington-Chester Mass Choir, Shirley Ceasar, Wintley Phipps, and many others. The choir has also been featured on the new releases by gospel saxophonist, Roy Daniels, Redeeming Souls and Harold Sutton.

John Tillery, one of the city's known songwriters and producers, has worked with many of the areas gospel artists. Some of his work can be heard on Roy Daniels, Toby Palmer & Chosen Generation, Carla Bowens & The Faith Tabernacle Recording Choir, Pastor D. Lee Owens & The DC Fellowship Mass Choir, Darrell Owens & The Voices of Zion, Parker Memorial Baptist Church Workshop Choir, Jacquie Myers, Reginald Jarrett, The Redeeming Souls, Norris Garner, and Isaiah Thomas & The Cornerstone P.B.B.C. Mass Choir albums.

John & the choir released their first recording entitled "God Is Still On The Throne" in 1994 on Vectron Records. Their newest release "Romans 12:1" released this fall on Danbla Records has been receiving heavy rotation on the radio nation wide. The songs "Living Sacrifice", "I'd Rather" featuring label mate Shontae Henry, who has been featured on several recordings from the GMWA Youth Choir and others, and "God Bless The U.S.A." a dedication to all Americans dealing with the tragic loss on September 11th, 2001 has been requested at every appearance. This album marks the birth of John's own production company JackieBoy Entertainment (record producing, video production, artist management, theater works production, and music publishing) JackieBoy Entertainment will be releasing The CUC Mass Choir featuring John Tillery and the "Advancing The Kingdom" Music & Arts Mass Choir recording in 2004.

John states, "We're very excited about what God is doing in our lives and we look forward to greater things happening. John also says. "Our ministry has changed so much over the years because we've become focused on Jesus. We are committed to our local churches first and this is just an extension of that. It's a blessing to be able to write and produce music that reflects the teachings that we receive and watch God use it to change people lives."

This radical group of young people has been featured in several gospel musical plays when traveling through D.C., including: "Mama, I'm Sorry" with Melba Moore and David Peaston, "Why Good Girls, Like Bad Boyz" with Wanda Nero Butler, and "Lord, Why Do I Keep Choosing The Wrong Man". John has been featured and starred in "Lord, I'm Coming Home" with Debbie Austin, Lois Tillery-Moore, Bruce Parham, and Jackie Ruffin of the Richard Smallwood Singers and recently in "Something To Shout About", which features several songs written and arranged by him. John has recently returned from a national tour as musical director for the stage musical play "A House Is Not A Home" featuring Christopher William & Terri Britton from Trinitee 5:7. Currently John serves as the Minister of Praise & Worship and Music Administration for Hunter Memorial A.M.E. Church in Suitland, MD where the pastors are Rev. Harold B. Hayes, Jr. and Rev. Kellie V. Hayes.

"Our ministry is for all people, because that's what being a LIVING SACRIFICE is all about. We're going in the rough places to win souls. We're also reaching out to the forgotten generation, the young adults. We are young adults ourselves and we know what they're dealing with and have to go through, so God has given us a special message for them, and we're going to share it in a way they can understand and relate to. But that doesn't mean we don't have anything to offer to the older saints, we have a message for them too."

"SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT": Fighting Temptations! Do you find yourself being tempted by the thing or things you know that are not good for you. Especially those things that are tearing you away from the Father. Often times I find myself fighting hard against those things that use to have me bound. The enemy knows just how to use even the smallest thing to try and get you. So I asked, "How do you keep from falling?" Well, the answer came real clear. Prayer, Fasting, Studying God's word and staying in His presence. These are the things the enemy hates the most. Praying - seek God for the power to overcome the enemy. You can't do it on your own. Fasting - turn down your plate as a sacrifice for God to move on your behalf. Study God's Word - know what God says about your situation. All of your answers are in the Word of God. Stay In God's Presence - an atmospher of praise and worship wards off the enemy. He can not stand to be in the atmospher of you loving God. He hates intimacy between you and God. Want to change the atmospher on your job or in your home, well try singing a praise or worship song. Just simply huming the tune disturbs his scheme. Fighting temptation is not something you can do on your own, you need God to do it for you. There's no weapon formed against you that shall prosper, so go on and walk in your authority!

Be blessed in the Lord,

John
