Alice Ripley

Before moving to New York, Alice spent several years in Nashville as a singer-songwriter.

Alice's headshotAlice was in the cast of Tommy at the La Jolla Playhouse in California with Michael Cerveris, originating the role of the Specialist's Assistant. She made her Broadway debut when the show moved to New York in 1993. She also understudied the role of Mrs. Walker and performed it many times.

Alice at Broadway on Broadway In 1994, Alice joined Michael, John Jinks and her now husband musician Shannon Ford forming the alternative rock band lame. She plays guitar and provided vocals. In 1995, when Michael took Tommy to Germany for the European premiere and the original lame members disbanded, Alice continued performing in New York including a benefit cabaret performance for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

She went on to tour the country as Fantine in Les Misérables. She discussed her role in THE BARRICADE, Issue #6 in Spring 1994. When she returned to New York, she took center stage once more, winning raves in the original Broadway cast of Sunset Boulevard with Glenn Close and Alan Campbell.

Alice at the stage door the closing night of SS In 1997, Alice created the role of Bathsheba in the Alan Menken/Tim Rice concert musical King David at the newly renovated New Amsterdam theater. Recently, she was seen on Broadway in the musical romance Side Show as Violet Hilton. Her moving performance as one half of the famous Siamese twins touched both critics and audiences. Before the show closed, fans launched an extensive internet campaign in hope of extending the run. Although the show sadly did end, Alice's beautiful performance left a lasting impression on her listeners. Today, she can be seen as Daisy Mae in the new production of L'il Abner.

And on May 11, she will once again be reunited with Michael and her original lame band members in the highly anticipated reunion concert at the Wetlands Preserve in Manhattan.
