Dear Friends,
This email is distributed to you, among the hundreds of Chinese
community
leaders. I am reporting to you the series of activities of the Chinese
community in the Greater Washington DC area about AoMen HuiGui (The
Return
of AoMen to China). I would appreciate that you forward this report to
your
organization.
AoMen will be returned to China on December 20, 1999, and this will
mark the
end of Western colony in East Asia that has lasted hundreds of years.
Chinese community leaders had a meeting recently, and decided the
following
activities to celebrate the Return of AoMen to China. You and your
friends
are welcome to join the following activities. Contact the POC for
detail.
1. December 11: Discussion Forum About AoMen HuiGui, at University
MD, College Park. Point of Contact: Xiao ShuiGen and Henry Lau
(410-715-1618). US-China Friendship Council, Union of Chinese
Professional
Organizations, and CSCUAA (Alumni Associations) will help organize the
forum.
2. December 12: Celebration Dinner, at HanGong (China Garden
Restaurant, Arlington, VA) organized by the many TongXiangHui (fellow
associations). POC: Douglas Tsoy (Cai ZuoRu) & Wong Hay-wan (Wang
QiYun:
301-670-9865). On November 14, at 2:30pm, a courtesy tea will be
provided at
HanGong and community representatives are invited to join to discuss
the
arrangement of this Celebration Dinner.
3. December 18: Yellow River Art Ensemble (YRAE) performance, at
George Washington University with over 1000 seats. POC: Shao Qing and
He
XiaoHui (301-990-9178). Hope Chinese School, CSCUAA as well as other
organizations will help promote the performance.
4. December 19: Embassy Reception (special invitations only). You
may contact the Chinese Embassy for detail, and their main number is on
public phone books.
5. Between December 20 - 30: TongXiangHui (Fellow Associations)
will
hold a party with dancing, singing, food, and other funs. POC: He
XiaoHui
and Wang Jie (301-963-3515).
THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE IS BEING FORMED TO COORDINATE
THESE ACTIVITIES.
