Worship and Spiritual Life

Worship at Holy Cross reflects the personality of the congregation: warm and informal in a traditional format.

Our service is held at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, this being the preference of the vast majority of the congregation. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated each Sunday and at special services.

Communion is taken to Hart Heritage once a month by lay ministers.

The majority of the congregation is not interested in Morning Prayer on Sunday, and there is little interest in midweek services. There is a moderate interest in healing services and members feel the Vicar should participate in the healing ministry. We would like to see greater youth participation in the services and the majority of the congregation feels that the Vicar should be actively involved in the training of all participants in the worship service.

There is little interest in small prayer groups or Bible study, but most members feel a strong conviction that one must pray and study God’s word to find application to one’s life.

At present, the 1982 Hymnal is in use, we have one paid organist, and there is currently no choir.

Obviously, the worship service is of primary importance to the congregation. They have indicated that they are satisfied with the way services have been conducted in the past, but would be willing to try unfamiliar music or forms of worship and consider incorporating them into the current services.
