Amanda's Pooh Page

Christopher Robin Milne was the son of A.A. Milne. He was married to Leslie de Selincourt, his first cousin, born in 1913, and they had one child, Clare Milne, who is now 40 and suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Christopher R. was 4 when the Pooh stories were written. His father was always writing him poems such as "Verspers"; "Hush, hush, whisper who dares, Christopher Robin is saying his prayers". He enjoyed being famous until boarding school, where he was taunted and teased so much he became shy and stuttered. In 1951, he took his family and moved to Dartmouth, England. Christopher Robin sold his claims to Pooh royalties in order to pay for his daughter's many and complicated treatments. He became a bookseller, a writer and a soldier. Because of his tauntingly troubled past, he was outraged when Disney manufactured toys against his wishes. Finally, he realized that he could not stop Disney, he held a campaign to get Disney to change his accent to Brittish from American Mid-Western. Although he saved Ashwood Downs, he did not keep any Pooh memorabilia. Christopher Robin Milne died April 20, 1996.

Pooh's friends

I conducted a favorite character poll in my integrated studies class using 17 students as voters. Tigger came in 1st with 8 votes, and Eeyore and Piglet tied wih 3 votes, Pooh with 2 votes, and a bluejay starring in one odd episode,( I didn't ask, he didn't say). To children and parents alike: Have you ever asked for a TIGGER stuffed animal, and someone got you an EEYORE instead of a TIGGER, not knowing what they were? Well, I have gathered information about each character in hopes of stopping this sad,sad tradgedy. EEYORE- A donkey who lives all alone in a decrepit stick house that is built on a hill. He speaks very monotone, and moseys about the woods in a sulky, morose manner. He has bluish-gray fur and a black mane with a white muzzle. His tail is adourned with a pink bow and frequently falls off. ** Pooh is based on a real bear named Winnie, and Pooh from Christopher Robin's swan.POOH- A bear who lives in a tree house under the name of "Sanderz", but is nearly always away, because of his love of visiting RABBIT. "Hunny" is his one passion. Pooh is quite clumsy and low in brain power, but rather a good-natured sort. POOH is orange-yellow, and wears a red shirt. RABBIT is a pastel yellow, fastidious, punctillious, carrot-loving grouch.

That's what friends are for!

TIGGER, on the other hand, is very bouncy and jolly, and a very cheerful sort. He's energetic, and lovable because of his comical yet naughty antics. Black stripes on a bright orange background are his most distinguishing physical feauture, (he's a tiger, of course). KANGA and ROO are an inseperable mother-son duo. They are both brown, one wearing an apron, another wearing a blue turtle-neck. ROO loves to play, and wants to be just like TIGGER. KANGA is a very gentle soul, loving and motherly. PIGLET is like a shoat-KANGA, very gentle and quiet. He is fearful of nearly everything, and very easily spooked. He is nervous, and soft-spoken, and just the right shade of pastel pink. And OWL. A wise, long-winded, fatherly owl.
